Available for Sicily in May

About this sitter

My husband and I are coming to Sicily in May and looking for a house sit opportunity! Ian is London-born, Michelle is Melbourne-born but we have lived in New Zealand for 20 years. We have a second home in the UK and we visit most years for months at a time. Ian works in harbour control at the port in Auckland, and Michelle is a contract personal assistant for the local council. We would relish the opportunity to look after your home and pets as if they were our own, and we understand the obligations that this means.

Why they want to house sit

We love Sicily and have visited 4 times on holiday. The island is stunning and has so much to offer and we haven't seen it all yet. I am trying to learn the Italian language and immersive learning is the best way! Currently can get by on basic conversation skills, a sense of humour and a lot of hand signals. We love animals, especially dogs, cats and horses. We both volunteered for Riding for the Disabled for a year, catching horses, saddling them for students, walking them, feeding, grooming, etc.

Their experience

We have looked after one house for 3 weeks in London in 2011. We have had 4 sets of house sitters look after our home on different assignments while we travelled.

What can they bring to the assignment

Trust, maturity, stability, common sense, worldly experience, home owners for 20 years, pet owners for 17 years, enthusiastic, youthful and optimistic outlook on life even though technically middle-aged! As homeowners who have had house sitters, we know what is required.
