About this sitter
My partner and I are youngish retirees, UK/Kiwi teacher, 63 and SA/Kiwi diesel fitter, 65 We have been house-sitting in New Zealand ,Australia and Singapore over the past 10 years and more recently Spain for several "repeat" sits..
We have both received 3 doses of the Astra Zenaca vaccine and have certificates with QR code to demonstrate this.
We are both active (cycling and walking), non smokers of sober habits.
.Terry is very practical (he built our yacht which we sailed from South Africa to Australia and then to SE Asia, and recently to the Med and now back to Australia) and can be relied on to sort out any problem of a practical nature.
Since we have no pets of our own, we love caring for other people's pets as if they were our own.
When not house sitting, we live on our boat, now in storage in Bundaberg,Queensland while we travel on land to look for our forever home on terra firma.
Why they want to house sit
Our home has been a yacht since 1994. Whilst we enjoy the "simple" life with little in the way of modern conveniences, house sitting allows us to travel and live in different countries and gives us a welcome change from life "on the high seas"!
Their experience
We have been house-sitting/pet minding in Singapore and Spain over the last 10 years, and prior to that, did several assignments in Australia and New Zealand over a period of 6 years when we were registered with a local website, so we have done many more than the 6 indicated on this site. We have been lucky to establish good relationships with home owners who have invited us back for repeat assignments on many occasions.
Our assignments have been varied including rural small holdings to large houses with swimming pools and gardens to maintain and usually a pet or two; dogs, cats, birds and horses.
We can give contact details of happy home owners who would be happy to give a testimonial, or ask them to post one.
What can they bring to the assignment
Our experiences have been on small holdings to apartments requiring basic garden and pool maintenance, as well as the usual household chores,mail forwarding and of course caring for a variety of animals as if they were our own.
We are both very conscientious and house-proud, living in a house is still a novelty for us!
Terry is very handy with fixing things (he built our yacht) and we both love animals.
Living on the boat, we are used to a simple lifestyle, at the same time, we are very adaptable, independent and resilient. We are very mindful of our water usage and power consumption having depended on solar and wind power whilst sailing.
We will have our own car, so transport is not a problem.

Just got better and better
Cathy and Terry are dream sitters. They have just completed their third sit with my hounds and I miss them (so do the dogs!) already! They are totally self-sufficient, more clean and tidy than I ever am and just great to have around. I trust them completely with my home and my 3 dogs and would have them back anytime, even just as friends with no sitting! Count yourself very lucky if they can fit you in, you will not be disappointed.

Cathy and Terry kept in touch regularly before they arrived and when they did arrive, I knew it had been the right choice. I got to spend an evening with them before I had to leave and they were not overwhelmed by my hounds at all. They can be so boisterous when they first meet new people but settle down quite quickly and I felt very reassured my dogs would be in good hands. They kept in touch regularly throughout the two weeks and left the house very clean and tidy it was like no-one had been there! They even brought their own sheets to sleep on so that they could launder mine and remake the bed before they left! 5 star sitters, you would be lucky to get them but can't have them yet as they are coming back next month!

Amazing
This is a difficult reference to write, simply because it may lead to Cathy and Terry not being available for any of our future sits because they are booked up! We have a large house and several pets, added to which we go away for relatively long period meaning that it is always difficult for us to select pet sitters. Sometimes, we meet sitters for the first time and know that we will not have to give our home and pets a second thought as they are all in safe hands and this was the case with Cathy and Terry. Our pets loved them both, I feel a tad more than us the un-loyal bunch, and our home was spotless and well maintained on our return. Thank you Cathy and Terry for your care of our pets and home, the airport transfers and a lovely hot meal on our return. Would I recommend you …….. 100%

Cathy and Terry - wonderful house sitters
Can't recommend these two highly enough. Totally reliable, very easygoing, really sweet with our dog Lexie, who plainly loves them. They looked after the house really well too and are just lovely, lovely people. Cathy and Terry ended up house sitting for us at least four times - once battling through Malaysian floods and tempests to make their commitment, which actually meant that they had to spend Christmas apart. We felt terrible about that! Every time they come they are a pleasure to deal with, totally straight forward, very practical, organised and helpful. You'd barely know they had been in the house their footprint is so light. Highly recommended.
