We are looking for someone to stay in our place during an upcoming trip. The primary duties will be taking care of and providing companionship to our two cats. Our cats are social so we'd like more human companionship than just a short visit each day that pet-sitters might provide.
You'd be invited to arrive the day before and to leave the day after, if you'd like to overlap with us. We find that overlapping before is helpful, though not essential.
Taking care of our cats - both cats are generally healthy, but there is one simple daily medication that needs administering. Other duties include feeding the fish and taking care of some house plants (including a Bonsai, which requires frequent watering).
This is a 2nd floor one+ bedroom condo in a 4-unit building in the happening neighborhood of Uptown Minneapolis. Located in residential area but very close to many amenities including the Chain of Lakes, numerous bars and restaurants, and a park right across the street. On a bus route, and on a bike boulevard and very close to the Midtown Greenway bike path. Covered, secure bike parking is available in our shed right off the alley. Roku player for watching Netflix and over-the-air TV. We pay for WiFi and utilities, so very low costs for you. We consider house sitters our guests; we provide a dossier with info on local attractions, individualized to the interests of each house sitter!
We are looking for someone to stay in our place, not just visit. The cats are easy to take care of, but do need a steady presence and the occasional separation when they are chasing each other too much. You may be required to interact with the other unit owners a bit if there are any problems to work out with the common areas, but that's fairly unlikely. Overall, a pretty easy house-sitting gig and we'd love to hear from you if you think it is a good fit!
Jake and I spent almost a week with the lovable Juno and Oscar in Minneapolis and we had such a wonderful experience. We had a chance to meet Gregg and Kellie and they were such a gorgeous, friendly couple. Their pet/house instructions were very detailed, organised and easy to follow. The sit was a breeze. They were so generous and gave us access to everything in the house. We really appreciated use of the bikes and canoes! I definitely recommend this sit to others! We will remember this experience fondly. I wish them all the best :)
An ideal house sit! I completely enjoyed the experience. The duties - caring for two indoor cats, feeding fish, watering houseplants, bringing up the mail - were simple and straightforward. Oscar and Juno were delightful companions! The space was bright, tidy, and well-organized. Gregg and Kellie were very prepared hosts, with instructions and a contract shared in advance of the sit. They also left a folder of helpful information, and they let the neighbors know I was going to be there. I felt very welcome, relaxed, and comfortable in their home, and the location was outstanding. There's so much to do in Minneapolis, and it's easy to get around - excellent biking and walking, plus bus and light rail. I also enjoyed visiting with Gregg and Kellie before and after their trip. House sitting for them was a real joy!
In October, I had the opportunity to house and kitty sit for Gregg and Kellie at their condo in Minneapolis. This made it possible for me to come back home to Minnesota and visit my friends and family. Both Oscar and Juno were very friendly, I enjoyed cuddling up and hanging out them and the fish. Oscar even gave me a back massage! They were so organized, Kellie had information typed out for the care of pets, plants and home. Gregg was great, he researched what buses I would need to take so I could go and visit my Mother. They live in such a great neighborhood. I was able to walk to restaurants and coffee shops. Just a short distance to the Rose Garden and walk around Lake Harriet one of my favorite activities to do in the summer. Thank you Gregg and Kellie for making it possible to spend time with my family. Let me know next time if you need some help!
Weeks before our sit, Gregg and Kellie sent us a plethora of information. The packet included how to take care of Juno and Oscar, as well as detailed info about their condo, neighborhood, and city. Their hospitality made us feel at home. We were welcomed with a ride from the airport, a bicycling map, and 2 lovable kitties who soon warmed up to us. Kellie and Gregg's comfortable, centrally located condo allowed us to bike in all directions. Minneapolis has been on our bucket list and we were unbelievably impressed with the parks and trail system. We would gladly sit for Juno and Oscar again!
I am so glad I went to Minneapolis for Juno & Oscar, because it was a really pleasant experience. The condo is in a very safe neighborhood (uptown), it was uplifting and colorful. Juno & Oscar are supersweet cats, it was fun to be around them and snap their pictures. Gregg & Kellie are very kind people, Gregg even got a car for the day to pick me up from the airport. I would come back any time if they'd ask me to. Condo is in a quiet street, easy bus connection to downtown, walking distance to Lake Calhoun. Supermarket, drugstore, restaurants and teashop are also in walking distance.
Gregg and Kellie are very friendly, considerate and they communicate their needs very clearly. They were organized with their instructions, so there was no guess work, which only sets a sitter up for success. The pets are sweet, and the plants are low maintenance. There are lots of nice shops and restaurants nearby. Public transportation is less than a block away. Their home is neat and well-stocked for tech needs as well as cooking. This was one of out best house-sitting experiences largely due to Gregg and Kellie’s generosity and organization. If we could, we would sit for them again.
