About this assignment
Animal lovers above all. The animal's welfare is the most important factor. Someone clean and tidy if possible, so far most sitters have been great.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
Feeding the animals, Doing short walks with Jack. cuddling the 3 cats, watering the house plants. The 3 cats are: ‘Potato’ a 10yrs old cat who is blind but leads a normal life, he is very cuddly. ‘Moustache’ also 9 yrs is very independent, Jeff who is 1.5 yrs old, ginger and very affectionate.
Jack is a 15yrs old
Jack Russell, he is very friendly, never barks. He is now deaf and blind. Still enjoys a short walk in the park oposite. They are all used to having sitters.
What are the good features of the property and location
For sitters with mobility problems there is a lift to the first floor.. The house is right in the center of town, facing a large park with many interesting trees and plants, perfect for a dog walk. The shops, street markets, restaurants and multi screen cinema are just 5mns on foot. It has efficient wifi. I am offering 2 double bedrooms, with 1m40 beds. Children are welcome.
No need to use the car for everyday life but it is important to have one if you want to visit this beautiful area which has local chateaux, vineyards or prehistoric sites. Bergerac has an international airport and rail station with car rentals. The beautiful town of Bordeaux is 1hr15 away, by car or train.
Just 10 mins out of town there is a large beautiful park with a lake.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
I have a French connected TV with Netflix, You Tube etc.. but no UK satellite. Because my wifi is strong and fast it is perfect for watching films on iPads and smart phones.
Jack can be left alone for a great maximum of 4 hours.
Can I bring my own pets?

An unforgettable experience!
We had the good fortune to spend 3 weeks at Josy's house in Bergerac, taking care of Potato, Moustache and Jack. During that time, we enjoyed the tranquility of the area and its excellent local wines. The rest of the time was spent at Josy's lovely home, enjoying the sunshine in her flower-filled courtyard. We also enjoyed the July 14th celebration, full of fireworks, activities by the river and a nice food market with local products. Josy is a very attentive person and certainly makes you feel welcome in her home from the very first moment. As a traveler, it is very nice to talk to her about the many trips she has made around the world and listen to her interesting anecdotes. Potato and Moustache are two cats so different, that each would require a separate review, for now, suffice it to say that they both won our hearts. Jack, on the other hand, is one of the sweetest dogs we have ever met. Despite his advanced age, he is full of energy and good vibes. We loved going to the park across the street from Josy's house and spending hours sitting with him in the grass and under the big trees. He is certainly a character that will be hard to forget. Undoubtedly, an unforgettable experience.

I spent Christmas and New Year in Bergerac. Josy was very welcoming and introduced her pets and left necessary contacts and directions for special occasions. Jack was very happy to go for walks several times a day, but the two cats always showed their kindness when they were at home. I enjoyed long walks along the banks of the Dordogne and the charm of the old town of Bergerac. Thank you Josy for the trust.

Happy animal family in Bergerac
Autumn in Bergerac was wonderful, like late summer. I had such a nice time living in Josy's beautiful house facing a lovely parc with special trees, fontains and many flowers in little gardens, where I could spend time with Jack the Jack Russell easy to handle dog, although we also enjoyed the riverside a lot and explored the historical centre. There were also 3 cats and I found them all irresistible, Nigel the sweet faithful senior, Potato who stays at the house most of the time waiting for food and cuddles, and independent Moustache with his tender cry and lazy siesta's to recover from the nightlife. When I sat down there were usually a dog and a cat on my lap and I fully enjoyed their company. Owner Josy is a kind lady who still travels the world and has lots of stories to tell about her interesting life. She even prepared lunch before leaving and offered to take me to shops. Bergerac has it all, a great shopping place before heading to the countryside, and I especially liked the wednesday and saturday market. Thank you Josy for this long sweet memory.

A wonderful house-sit - gorgeous animals & lovely owner
We were fortunate enough to sit for Josy for 2 weeks. She is a wonderful, friendly and interesting lady and it was an absolute pleasure to meet her. Josy was kind enough to let us begin our house-sit a few days early, which we really appreciated. Her house is beautiful, in a perfect position opposite a park and within walking distance of the sights of Bergerac and all the amenities you need. Josy left us with detailed instructions and gave us all the information and help we needed, so we felt really comfortable, welcome and well-prepared. Jack, the little Jack Russell, was a pleasure to be around- he is a very funny and smart little dog. He is no trouble to walk, and will happily lead you on all his favourite routes around town, so you will really get to know your surroundings. The 3 cats were super easy to care for- Potato is sweet and cuddly, Moustache is athletic and a bit bossy (always in the kitchen when you cook looking for a treat), and Nigel is an easy-going and laid back old guy. We had a wonderful time in Bergerac with all the animals and cannot thank Josy enough for her generosity and kindness. She made our first house-sit a magical one, and we would highly recommend her house-sits to anyone looking for a wonderful time in beautiful Bergerac. Thank you Josy!

Together with my sister I spent three wonderful weeks in Bergerac. Josy came (with Jack the adorable dog) to meet us at the train station. She went shopping with us by car for the heavy things and showed us the way. We looked after the three cats : Nigel, Moustache and Potato. We loved the cats who have each a different character- and we loved the dog Jack – a lovely Jack Russel who is friendly, loved to be cuddled and was so easy to handle. We felt very welcome and very at home at Josy’s beautiful house. We thank Josy very much for giving us such a good time during Christmas and New Year in Bergerac.

Wonderful woman, beautiful location and lovely pets
You would not only enjoy the house sit in a beautiful area, but also the company of Josy! We have 50 years age difference and it was so interesting to hear all her stories and view of life! Josy is wonderful woman, we are very glad we had a chance to meet her and house sit for her. The house was clean and cozy and the pets were lovely too.

Wonderful House-Sit in Bergerac
We were fortunate to house-sit for Josy in Bergerac. Josy is a wonderful lady, so welcoming and thoughtful. We loved the house, located close to downtown, a park, stores, and the river. Taking care of the pets was a pleasure, esp. Jack the dog who we became quite fond of. We also saw some wonderful sites in the Bergerac area. The real pleasure was getting to know Josy, even for a short time. The great thing about house-sitting is meeting wonderful people like Josy.
