Hi there! We are looking for responsible person who can take care of one fun loving 4 year old jack Russell/dachshund mix and 1 kitty. They are both healthy animals.
We would like our dog to receive three walks a day (20-30 minutes) in the neighborhood. Both animals need food and water twice a day and good dose of human kindness daily.
We live in a two bedroom apartment in Queens NY. You would enjoy a large apartment with living room, sit in kitchen, bathroom and a big bedroom in a quiet and safe neighborhood. We are close to Flushing Meadows Park (home of the Mets and the US open) and forest park. We live around 3 blocks away from the subway. You don't need a car to get around from here. Grocery stores are around the corner, laundry in the building, dog runs close by. Manhattan is a 30 to 45 min subway ride away.
We ourselves are a couple (social worker and psychotherapist) in our forties with a toddler.
Hope to hear from you!
Are you willing to walk a dog 3 x a day for at least 25 minutes? Do you not cancel at the last minute? Do you love NYC in the summer, even with some covid limitations?
Sandra's home is very cozy and well lit. The first time I was there was a very cold February and I was happy the house was warm and so close to the train line. Muddles was still a puppy who really enjoyed going for his walks and cuddling with me in front of the TV. He was very well trained and does not pee inside the house. The cats were very clean too and mostly kept to themselves. I have house-sat for Sandra a few times now and I will continue too in the future every time I can because it's one of my favorite sits. She goes the extra mile to make her sitters feel comfortable and communicates very well and often and solves any issues right away. I strongly recommend.
Sandra is very nice, she will let you know everything you need to know, so you can rely on her! The dog is full of energy, you can walk him for hours if you want! :) The cat... you don't need to worry about the cat :D She is laying on her's tower all day long (except when you are out with the dog) The apartment is convenient, equipped with everything! I definitely recommend them!
Sandra's apartment is comfortable and located in a really lovely, diverse, family-oriented neighborhood in Queens. And yet it's about a 30 minute subway ride from Manhattan, so you have a quiet place to stay and access to the city. The cats are very sweet and not especially demanding. One requires insulin injections but he takes them without incident as he gets them when he's eating and he's very happy eating. The other kitty is funny and outspoken at meal time but also very easy going. The dog, a youngster, has some anxiety issues but if you step in and play fetch with him you are almost guaranteed that he will feel calmer and happier. He's clever and affectionate and has some hilarious tendencies, like trying to catch bugs and butterflies or walking along balancing on curbs. I really enjoyed my time with this group of funny creatures. Sandra was very helpful in her communication.
