Hi there!
If you a responsible person (or couple) and like to come home to a fun loving 10 year old Jack Russell/Dachshund mix, after a day of exploring NYC, from August 16th till Sept 2nd, then you are our person! Care for the doggie consists out of two to three walks a day in the neighborhood and plenty of belly rubs :). He eats twice a day, always needs access to fresh water. We also have a small gecko who is very low maintenance.
We live in a two-bedroom apartment in Eastern Queens NYC, about 15 to 20 min by car from JFK and LaGuardia Airports. You would enjoy a large apartment with living room, sit in kitchen, bathroom and a big bedroom in a quiet and safe neighborhood. We are close to Flushing Meadows Park (home of the Mets and the US open) and Forest Park. We live around 3 blocks away from the subway. You don't need a car to get around from here. Grocery stores are around the corner, laundry in the building. Manhattan is a 30 to 45 min subway ride away. Summer in NYC is magical. Though the summers are very warm, the end of August becomes a bit cooler. Catch the US Open, or a game between the Yankees and the Boston Red Socks, or Brooklyn 's Astropunk Festival. Attend free concerts in Central Park or Bryant Park. Enjoy Shakespeare in the Park (also free) or catch Kieran Culkin or Bob Obendirk on Broadway. Lady Gaga is performing in August at Madison Square Garden. Find a street festival or bike through the city. Go kayaking on the Hudson River in Brooklyn or visit one of nyc's many great beaches! There is always a ton to do in nyc.
We ourselves are a couple (Psychotherapist and Behavioral Intervention Specialist) in our forties with a third grader. If you have a kid around the same age, then our apartment is basically a playroom paradise full of toys.
If you like to come a day early or stay a day later, you are welcome to stay with us.
We would like our dog to receive two to three walks a day (20-30 minutes) in the neighborhood and plenty of belly rubs :). He eats twice a day, always has access to fresh water. The gecko habit needs to be sprayed and the gecko fed (dry food) once a day. Our plants need water and please keep our apartment clean or as clean as you received it.

Awesome Family
It was a great experience to connect with Sandra and her family! Sandra and Dore are very welcoming and hospitable people. They made us feel right at home, gave great sightseeing suggestions, made sure we had everything we needed and was very responsive to messages. Their dog Muddles is a wonderful, cute boy whom we bonded lots with. Muddles is absolutely adorable and a good lil boy -we miss you Muddles!! Their place is so close to the subway, which was very convenient for our adventure around the city!

Great Kittens, Great Puppy and Great People
Sandra's home is very cozy and well lit. The first time I was there was a very cold February and I was happy the house was warm and so close to the train line. Muddles was still a puppy who really enjoyed going for his walks and cuddling with me in front of the TV. He was very well trained and does not pee inside the house. The cats were very clean too and mostly kept to themselves. I have house-sat for Sandra a few times now and I will continue too in the future every time I can because it's one of my favorite sits. She goes the extra mile to make her sitters feel comfortable and communicates very well and often and solves any issues right away. I strongly recommend.

A cool dog and a lazy cat and a great place to stay
Sandra is very nice, she will let you know everything you need to know, so you can rely on her! The dog is full of energy, you can walk him for hours if you want! :) The cat... you don't need to worry about the cat :D She is laying on her's tower all day long (except when you are out with the dog) The apartment is convenient, equipped with everything! I definitely recommend them!

A True New York City Family Neighborhood and Sweet Animals
Sandra's apartment is comfortable and located in a really lovely, diverse, family-oriented neighborhood in Queens. And yet it's about a 30 minute subway ride from Manhattan, so you have a quiet place to stay and access to the city. The cats are very sweet and not especially demanding. One requires insulin injections but he takes them without incident as he gets them when he's eating and he's very happy eating. The other kitty is funny and outspoken at meal time but also very easy going. The dog, a youngster, has some anxiety issues but if you step in and play fetch with him you are almost guaranteed that he will feel calmer and happier. He's clever and affectionate and has some hilarious tendencies, like trying to catch bugs and butterflies or walking along balancing on curbs. I really enjoyed my time with this group of funny creatures. Sandra was very helpful in her communication.
