About this assignment
We are looking for cat sitter who is:
- a non-smoker who loves cats and will give Luna and Tibbe lots of attention and cuddles
- someone who likes to spend time in the house (working, reading, relaxing) with nice walks/cycle rides or a bit of sightseeing in the area.
-previous housesitters who enjoyed our home were a writer, musician, translator, freelance journalist, graduate student writing thesis, retired school teacher.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
- feeding our cats
-letting them outside into the garden once or twice a day (we have no cat flap)
- cleaning out the litter box
- watering inside plants,
That's it! Enjoy our house and surroundings
What are the good features of the property and location
- 140m2 over 3 floors. Modern open plan kitchen/living room and modern bathroom
- Private garden front and back - even in winter there is a sunny spot
- fast internet connection for working from home
- quiet and friendly neighbourhood
- forest is 3 minute's walk away
- 2 lakes (Dobbeplas and Delftse Hout) and canals.
- Plenty of free parking, though a car is not necessary to get here
- Good bus connection to Delft and Nootdorp, trains, tram and metro from where you can get to Den Haag, Rotterdam or Amsterdam.
- you can use one of our bikes to cycle easily to shops in Delft (15 mins), Nootdorp or Ypenburg (both 5 minutes).
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
- this housesitting assignment is best suited for one person or a quiet couple.
- we really want someone who is home quite a bit so that the cats can be fed at the times they are used to.
-we appreciate if a sitter can be here in the morning of the first day of the sit. So arriving in Delft the day before is preferable unless you alrrady live in Holland. It is possible for us that you stay the night before, however be aware we also have a dog (she comes on holiday with us)

Lovely cat company
It was a pleasure to look after the two adorable young sibling cats Tibbe and Luna. They followed me through the house and it was very funny to brush my teeth with them at both sides (as they enjoy sinks a lot to play with the water). Very easy to care for, they only need to be monitored with food as Luna likes to eat small portions spread throughout the day (she asks for it) while Tibbe has great appetite always. Kind owners Lauren and Merel welcomed me in a lively modern family house (with two boys and a dog) dedicated to music and education at the outskirt of the historical city Delft. It must be nice to cycle in the surroundings apart from winter, and I also noticed an organic farm with shop nearby. Quiet neighbourhood, indeed a good place for reading and writing. Thanks for entrusting me such sweet baby cats!

Second time round
I was so lucky to house sit for Lauren and her family a second time. They are a beautiful family with a gorgeous cat called Lasse. Their home is comfortable and modern. Just a short bus ride to Delft. Everything about this house sit is perfect and I highly recommend it.

The benefits of Nature and Culture
Lauren and her partner made me feel very welcome. The house is situated in a modern pretty neighbourhood close to a beautiful nature area which hosts the sweetest healthfood shop I have ever come across. Loads of trails to hike or bike. When you follow the canal you end up in the pittoresque old town Delft. The Hague city is a true cultural joy with all it's interesting museums close at hand. The cat is easy to take care for and a sweet delight to have around. There were clear instructions and Lauren kept contact at all times. Love to house sit for them again!

Wonderful time!
I have just completed an awesome house sit in Netherlands. Lauren and her partner were so welcoming and I felt instantly at home. Rotterdam retreat
Lauren's house is a modern 3 stories in a quiet residential area with nice neIghbors. Sorounded by canals, bike roads, ample parks to enjoy nature, yet shops and cafes are in easy reach on a bike. Nearby cities are again easy reach by bus. She has 2 adorable cats and you will make friends with them in no time. Apart from taking care of cats and plants, you enjoy your time for study/research using her hi-speed internet connection. Lauren's place is an ideal retreat.
