Please put the cat out before the ferrets come out for their playtime.
Hi there,
we (Sue & Heather) are looking for an animal loving, house sitter/s who can care for our 2 ferrets, 2 house cats & 4 feral cats for approximately 2 months.
Blossom & Bonnie are very friendly & playful & enjoy at least 2 hours playtime with their toys a day. They don't bite unless Bonnie becomes over excited during playtime, are toilet trained & sleep most of the time. They have fresh laundry each week & their litter tray paper changed morning & evening. They will need their nails trimming once a fortnight so some ferret experience would definitely benefit both parties! I use their salmon oil on their tummies to distract them whilst I trim!
We have had a little family of hedgehogs that visit us at night & we put hedgehog food & fresh water out for them. However, there has been no siting of them this year so fingers crossed they're alright. We bought a wildlife camera some years ago to record them, they're fascinating little creatures! During the day there are many varied wild birds that come to the garden feeders. We even saw a Herron by our pond once!
The house is a 3 bed semi with a driveway for 3 cars, there is WiFi & tv, two tv's one in the lounge 40" & one in the main bedroom 21" (with aerial points in all bedrooms & the kitchen), gas central heating, shower over bath, gas oven & hob, a microwave, fridge & freezer. There are french doors leading to the patio from the lounge & a good sized, south facing back garden with lawn, a good sized nature pond with frogs, a small allotment & a greenhouse. Theres also a large aviary that we use for storage. It is a quiet area & our neighbours are all friendly. The Beaumont Leys shopping centre is only a 5 minute drive away, plus there is a Nisa supermarket with post office, chip shop & bus stops well within walking distance. Leicester town with the famous "Golden Mile" is a 15 minute drive or 10 minutes by bus. There are plenty of lovely country walking areas nearby for nature lovers & some truly authentic curry houses for those who enjoy Indian cuisine.
Thank you for reading our listing & happy sitting!
Pet care to 2 playful ferrets, 2 indoor cats & 4 feral cats. Only two cats (Tia & Amber) live in the house.
Apart from Oliver who is tame, the remaining 3 garden cats are still timid. There was a feral cat problem locally several years ago. Ourselves & a couple of the neighbours would feed them. The cats protection worked with us to trap them for neutering & re-homing. One of them was Tia. Amber was a more recent acquisition who just appeared one day! The others prefer to remain as outside cats. We have several hay filled wooden mini kennels around our garden & the cats like to use them.
We maintain a good supply of wild bird seed in the outbuilding for the birds that visit our bird table & feeders. The greenhouse is often visited by the cats so we have a couple of cat beds in there now!
Quiet road, large south facing rear garden with plenty of wild bird visitors, a squirrel, frogs in the pond & the odd hedgehog. Sometimes, we have a visit from a squirrel who likes to pop round & say hello. The neighbours are friendly & respectful & town is only a 10 minute bus ride. Leicester has King Richard 3rd buried here & The National Space Station is a 20 minute walk from our house. Bus stops, Nisa supermarket with post office & chip shop are just a 5 minute walk up the road & the lovely Watermead Country Park is also within walking distance.
No dogs to come in the house please as their fur sets off my asthma unfortunately. Also the cats might not like it!
We are both on facebook messenger & WhatsApp in order to keep in touch & we both have mobile phones.
Experience trimming ferrets toenails would be useful.
Our return date is approximate. We will be away for about 2 months & ee would keep you posted once we know the exact date of our return.
Thankyou, happy sitting.
Yes
Restrictions: Little pets should be fine but no dogs please because of the cats.

Wonderful life-affirming experience in Leicester, UK
I had one of the most wonderful experiences at Sue and Heather's home in Leicester. Two beautiful and friendly ferrets, a loving indoor and outdoor family of cats, and a friendly family of chickens that taught me many new skills in poultry care. Sue and Heather were there whenever I needed them and looked after me wonderfully. I honestly hope to come back to sit for them if they need me in the future. Leicester was a wonderful place to visit. I joined a local writers group and will continue participating with them online. My experiences at Sue and Heather's home in Leicester were wonderfully memorable and will stay with me forever.
