About this assignment

A mature person or couple who love beautiful places. My home is surrounded by forest but a close walk to nearby beaches and marinas. This area is now termed the 'new Provence' and has many places to visit and explore. A sitter for my home would appreciate a new home designed for minimal living giving more time for the outdoors. Reliable, non smoking, competent, relaxed... you know the rest.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Caring for the home which i consider to be a very relaxed and comfortable home. Being friends to my two 'girls'- Nova ( the white one ) and Lola - the brown. --( major update- now only one as I lost Nova last Nov.). These are Mini Australian Shepherds- rehomed to me just over 9 years ago. They are adorable and will be your best friends after a day or so of adjustment. Around home, Lola is the best-- . She has a heart of love for every person she meets. As she is getting older, now near 14, her walks are much shorter but she is very much a sweetheart and wants to be involved with everything.

What are the good features of the property and location

I am 10 minutes from Duncan BC where shopping is totally covered. Local farmers markets, vineyards with some excellent cafes, fantastic hiking trails nearby and a daily walk that could take you to nearby Maple Bay beach and the marinas. Also, we have very little snow so a terrific perk for non BC residents. (snow birds--)
For this time of year, my gardens should be pretty well dormant. I love to garden..

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

I hesitate leaving Lola because I will miss her a ton. Most of my time they she is within sight or at my feet watching over me and my every move. . Great bond and very loving. I believe she thinks she saves me from danger many times a day- it is her job and she does it very well. Super fun. The house is only 19 years old- all modern appliances. Internet is available but no phone lines so i use an internet phone. I have cable and an outside hot tub which is fantastic to relax in and enjoy a winters evening. So much to say- a fantastic place to live.
I am traveling out of country and currently have flexible dates.

Can I bring my own pets?

No, sorry.
