Responsibilities include maintaining the yard (approximately 1 acre) and ensuring the cleanliness of the home. Regular communication with us is essential. We also welcome assistance with occasional projects, including sustainable building, gardening, painting, and creative endeavors. Your contributions and creativity are appreciated and guided by us.

What are the good features of the property and location

This eco-home, designed with a million-dollar view and privacy in mind, is nestled on approximately 1 acre of hillside near the top of Monte Carmelo. Located just 1.5 miles outside Isabel Segunda, the property features a lush jungle landscape with a well-maintained grassy yard, abundant trees, palms, and a young starfruit tree.

The panoramic views include Culebra, Culebrita, and St. Thomas, offering stunning sunrises and refreshing trade wind breezes. The area is perfect for those seeking a nature-focused lifestyle with opportunities for:

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

The house is located on Vieques, a smaller, tropical island off the coast of Puerto Rico. As a U.S. territory, no passport required for U.S citizens. Vieques offers a remote and romantically rustic experience, perfect for those seeking peace away from the hustle and bustle. It’s an ideal place to reconnect with yourself and nature, surrounded by natural beauty and wildlife, including horses, birds, iguanas, and roosters.

Our casita is equipped for off-the-grid living and includes:

- Solar power for lighting and USB device charging.
- Solar powered fan with USB charging device.
- A gravity-fed shower and kitchen sink that needs repair via a solar pump we will provide.
- A gray water flushing toilet system.
- A propane stove and oven for cooking.
- Two 600-gallon rainwater collection tanks and two 55-gallon tank. The well pump needs repair via a solar pump we can provide.

The loft features a queen-sized air mattress with firm topper and a zippable bug net, breathtaking sea views and sunrises.
As we do not reside on the island full-time, you should be self-sufficient. We maintain open communication and will assist as needed to ensure a smooth stay.

Maintenance is straightforward: daily sweeping inside, mopping, and keeping the house tidy to prevent pests. We will provide a weed whacker and other tools for yard work. Please bring your own sheets, towels, and food, as these are not guaranteed.

The casita is a peaceful retreat, and life changing experience!
