About this assignment

We'd like someone to take care of our cat, Fred, who's very sociable and loves having people around, and to keep the apartment in good order.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Care for the cat (food, water, litter and play), keep the apartment in good order, and communicate with us from time to time so that we know that everything is fine :).

What are the good features of the property and location

The apartment is beautiful, very new, full of light, view a view on the river and a wonderful open living room with a kitchen corner and a terrace. Two bedrooms, a bathroom and a separate toilet. Second floor with lift. Quiet area, half an hour on foot to Ghent's city center Ghent is a truly wonderful city, look it up! Around Christmas, the city centre becomes a "winter wonderland" with an ice-skating rink under the City Pavilion and a Christmas market.
Fred the cat is cute, cuddly and playful.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

You need to like cats: Fred is very sociable and will likely follow you almost anywhere around the house. The best way to get around in Gent is by bike, although public transportation works well and walking is also an option, since the city isn't too big.
Ideally, we would like someone who could arrive on Thursday 19 in the morning (or the day before and spend one night in a b&b in town), so that we can show them the house before leaving around 10 AM (or the day before). We will of course also leave written instructions, and we can always be contacted in case of need.

Housesitting in Gent

We were doing a sit over x-mas/ New Year’s 2018/19 at Micol and Tommaso’s (and Fred, the tomcat, of course). It was brilliant. The flat was comfy, it was close to the city centre, in easy accessability to a supermarket and right by a canal, so we could go for long strolls along the water’s edge. Gent’s well worth a visit and offers things to do for multiple days. Caring for Fred was a delight; always up to mischief, yet quite cuddly and content to while away the time in your lap. Our stay in Gent was made very pleasant! Thank you, we’d love to be back. Markus and Mirja
