About this assignment
Non Smoker. Someone who enjoys peace and quiet with a scenic view of the lake. Someone who enjoys dogs. Possibly some flexibility with dates since flights may change one day one way or the other.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
Feed one dog. She is a black lab mix (65 lbs.) about 11 years old. She spends most of the day outside. Let her out of the garage in the morning and put her back in at night. At night she comes in to watch TV with us. There are three bowls in the garage. One for food, one for water, and one for a spoonful of ice cream at night.
What are the good features of the property and location
Beautiful rural property. It includes a 5 acre lake with fish and a new, custom built, 1 story log home. 10 Minutes to town/shopping/restaurants. It is very quiet except for the birds and tree frogs.
If you like to watch TV, we have a beautiful media room.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
Our dog gets along great with people. Not so well with other dogs that she does not know. There is a garage and also plenty of room to park whatever vehicle you may have.

The area is rural and peaceful, but close enough to town to take advantage of all the amenities like local restaurants, breweries, and the worlds largest flea market. If you have the opportunity this sit is a great way to get away and help out some very kind people in the process.

Housesit in Fruitvale TX
Charles and Shirley were friendly and well organized. Charles provided complete instructions and Shirley created a detailed area map. Their clean well maintained home is situated on 32 acres overlooking their private lake. If you want peace and quiet, this is your place. "Sypress" the black lab was very friendly easy to care for.

An Assignment of Choice If You Are Looking to Relax and Enjoy Nature
I recently had the opportunity to house/pet sit for Charles and Shirley in Fruitvale, TX. Due to our travel schedules, we did not have much time to spend together, but they are a very welcoming, friendly, down to earth and an easy-going couple. From evidence of their travels and interests in their home, I think they would be wonderful to get to know better. Their log home is unique, gorgeous, comfortable, very spacious and well equipped/appointed. As you have probably seen from their profile, it is situated on a large parcel of land with a small lake. You can't see or hear any of the nearby neighbors, except for an occasional car driving by on the small county road. Though secluded, I felt very safe there. The view out over the lake is very pleasing and relaxing, and wildlife and birds provide near constant entertainment. Their black lab Sypress is a sweetheart. She is not needy at all, well mannered, obedient, appreciates attention and belly rubs, but does not demand it, and is really one of the lowest maintenance pets you would ever encounter. She can be playful, but is perfectly happy just laying at your feet on the porch overlooking the lake as you read a favorite book or enjoy morning coffee. Amusingly, she spends much of each day off playing with a neighbor's two dogs, and they come around from time to time and are also fun to interact with. If it gets too quiet, there are some excursions nearby such as Canton, a State Park, a couple of larger lakes, etc. I wouldn't hesitate to sit for Charles and Shirley again.

I was so lucky to meet and stay with this sweetheart lab, last year. I spent a very quite and peaceful 3 weeks in the country. Beautiful log house. Media room. Looks out onto a large pound. This was my very 1st pet sit assignment. Being a grandmother,I felt safe and not too far from a town. Charles and Shirley were sweet enough to have lunch for me. Very nice sit. Would be more than willing to go again. Donna
