About this assignment

We prefer a mature couple to look after our house and animals as we have a bit of a mini farm but singles are also considered. Cambodia is a developing country and there are not as many first world conveniences here so you should be practical and down to earth.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Main responsibilities include looking after our 3 dogs, 2 cats and assorted chickens and ducks. Also watering indoor and outside plants. Once the animals get used to you they are pretty easy to take care of. The dogs and cats often spend a lot of time snoozing. However the German Sheperd likes a bit of play time in the garden like chasing sticks or playing tug of war. We have had a lot of house minders in the past but this is our first time using Mind My House and all our testimonials are on Trusted Housesitters. Preferably you will want to spend a lot of time at the house but if you want to go sightseeing the dogs are used to being left on their own for a few hours at a time.

What are the good features of the property and location

Our house has a large garden with a small lake and is surrounded by nature in a very peaceful location which is just a 10-15 minute walk from the centre of Kampot, a charming riverside town in the south of Cambodia. A popular tourist destination with many local and international restaurants, cafes and bars. We don't have air-con but lots of fans and the house is quite open and breezy. We have fast wifi (120Mbps) as we teach online. Large smart TV so you can stream movies if you have accounts for Netflix etc. Transport is easy with apps for tuktuks and journeys around town are usually less than $2 a ride. Also if you don't feel like cooking there are apps for food delivery which is fast and efficient with local Cambodian food as well as Italian, Mexican etc.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Please be aware of visa requirements for Cambodia, 30 days is the standard tourist visa. We prefer sitters who are ok with conditions in a developing country located in the tropics.
