We are looking for a reliable house and cat sitter, preferably a non-smoker (absolutely no smoking in the house). Ideally you would enjoy a quite environment in a small village.
We have 4 cats. 1 is a senior (almost 13 years), one is 3 years old and 2 are around 1 year old.
The older two are indoor /outdoor cats while the younger two are indoor cats. We do have an enclosed patio which they can use if you are not here.
You must go along well with cats. Our senior cat had a car accident in 2022y and is limping a bit, otherwise there is no permanent damage. We had also to remove all his teeth due to FORL. He cannot have dry food but otherwise he is fine.
The tree year old is a bit slow sometimes and you would have to defend his food from the two younger ones as they are very food motivated.
You are required to feed our cats twice daily and supervise the feeding, water the plants, mow the lawn if necessary and empty the post box.
Keep all the cats inside during the night.
It is a quiet location, but everything you need is there. We have a small shop and a small farm shop and even a doctor in our village. There is also a river. We live across the border to Germany so you could get cheaper food there. We have a bus stop so it's easily reachable.
If you travel by car, there is a parking spot. We do have internet, but no TV program.
We live near an atomic power plant, which you can see from our bathroom. Instructions for in case of emergency and potassium-iodide tablets are provided. Switzerland can also be expensive, but we would provide some food if that's a problem for you.
You can housesit with children (I think up to two children would be fine due to space) here. It's possible to arrive a bit before we are away, we do have a sofa bed where two people can sleep. We can remove the baby bed from the bedroom if you don't have any children with you.
We have two security cameras on the outside, they are here for recording our cats and not when you leave the house.
No, sorry.

Summer house sit in peaceful Swiss village
House sitting for Eliane and her family was a lovely experience. They were very helpful, giving me detailed directions for getting to the house and suggestions with how to use my time there. They were available by text whenever needed too. They left very detailed and helpful notes, as well as verbal instructions on caring for their two adorable cats and lovely house. Panna and Cotta are beautiful cats and with Eliane’s instructions, were a joy to look after. The village itself is very pretty, with a well stocked store only a few minutes walk from the house. The neighbours were just as lovely and the village felt incredibly safe. Despite being small, there was a lot to do from hiking to swimming in the river a short walk away. The transport links were very good too, allowing me to explore other nearby villages. Being on the border, I was also able to walk across to Germany and explore a few of the villages there too. It was a lovely chance for a peaceful retreat to the “untouristy” parts of Switzerland. The cats were great company and Eliane and her family were marvellous hosts.

Leibstadt with Panna and Cotta
I really enjoyed my stay in Leibstadt with Panna and Cotta. Panna loves his food and Cotta is especially affectionate. The house is modern with everything that you might want. The village has a shop and regular bus services to nearby train stations. Above the village are lovely hills with forest paths and cherry orchards. It is a short walk to the river Rhine where it is possible to swim, to follow the paths upstream and downstream or to cross into Germany where I hired a bike. There are some beautiful towns nearby such as Laufenburg and Bad Sackingen and Basel is close enough for a visit. Eliane and Philippe made me feel very welcome in their home. They have had house sitters before and prepared excellent notes and explained all that I needed to know. This was a great opportunity to experience the real Switzerland and I recommend it.
