About this assignment
My husband, Pete and I are going on vacation in January with our children so are looking for someone to care for our 12 lb dog, Cooper who is an 13 year old Papillon mix and 2 indoor/outdoor cats plus goldfish in our outside pond.
The cats do not get along well with other dogs so we are looking for somebody who isn't planning on bringing a pet. You will also need your own transport.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
The most important responsibilities are to our pets. We usually walk our dog, Cooper twice a day, morning and evening, and the cats are very easy to take care of. There is a cat/dog door so they are all able to come and go as they please. Cooper is an avid ball catcher and would happily play fetch all day if he was given the chance although he is definitely slowing down now he is getting up in age.
What are the good features of the property and location
We live in the lovely town of Clayton which is located at the base of Mount Diablo in the Bay Area. We are very close to many restaurants and shopping .San Francisco is a 40 minute Bart ride away and we are about 45 minutes away from Napa so we are very centrally located for you to enjoy everything that the Bay Area has to offer.
Our house is ranch style on a lovely half acre lot with solar heated swimming pool, hot tub and fire pit. We have a very comfortable main house plus a separate pool house. All our beds are California king size.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

What a Wonderful Sit!
What a great pet/house-sit! I’ve just completed my 2nd sit for Diana & Pete and they are both delightful! Their lovely pets and home are so wonderful too! Everything you need to successfully complete the sit is well-documented. In addition, they are accessible, responsive and great communicators should something come up. Cooper (their only dog) is the best companion…and watch-dog. Molly and George are their cats that live in the house at night, while Max shows up occasionally. Since my 1st sit earlier this year, Pete has added goldfish to the pond. Like the entire home and property, pet care is very well organized and simplified! Aside from very streamlined morning, lunch and evening routines, all the pets are lovely and good at letting you know what else they may want and need (like treats and petting)? They all especially enjoy lounging around the pool with you when the weather’s nice….soooo cute! The home has everything one could possibly need. I especially loved just hanging out here with Cooper, Georgie and Molly. The house itself sits on the most beautiful property - feels like the most peaceful park setting with the amenities of a resort hotel! The neighborhood is very safe and beautiful to walk, neighbors are friendly and kind. Restaurants, parks and shopping are mere minutes away. Just beyond the quaint town of Clayton, the entire SF Bay Area awaits! If you are lucky enough to have the opportunity to do a sit for Diana and Pete, you are lucky indeed. Recommend++

Friendly hosts and cute pets
I had a great time pet & house sitting for Diana and Pete, a very welcoming and charming couple, in Clayton, CA. They have a beautiful home within walking distance of Mt Diablo State Park with its stunning beauty. I had fun walking and playing fetch with their dog Cooper, while the cats were easy care. The daily feeding and walking routine was quite easy and they have quite detailed information with everything you need listed for a successful sit. Their house and yard were lovely, the guest room and private bath very comfortable, and the house location was convenient to the outdoors, nearby shopping and the great ‘vibe’ the entire East Bay offers. They offered to let me stay over for a day or two after the job which was really appreciated. If you get a chance to sit for Diana and Pete, you will definitely enjoy getting to know them, their pets and their beautiful home.
