1 bird and 1 cat. The bird is really low maintenance. She likes lettuce every day and enjoys when people are around.
We are looking for responsible people (or a responsible person) to house sit our 1 cat and one bird from June 13th through July 4th. We are leaving on June 13th and returning on July 4th. It would be great if the house sitter could arrive the day before to meet us and the pets and learn about the house sit.
You will feed our lazy cat and scoop her litter box. You will also feed our bird (seed and lettuce) and change his water. The animals don't need much more care than that. No deep cleaning cages or litter boxes is necessary unless you feel like the litter needs to be changed.
There are also some houseplants that need to be watered.
We live in an 80 square meter apartment in the Hague (Den Haag) in a quiet, residential neighborhood near two useful train stations that will take you to Leiden, Rotterdam, Delft, Amsterdam, etc. great places. There are two bedrooms (one with a king size bed, the other with a double bed), a living room, and an office. There is a fully equipped kitchen, a pull-out sofa, and even an air mattress! We have cable TV, a Roku, and wifi.
You also have access to two bicycles. These will be particularly useful when exploring the city and sand dunes, and you can even take them to other cities via the train. The apartment building has an elevator.
We live next to a shopping center (2 minute walk) that has everything you could want (electronics store, grocery store, clothing, legos, Apple store, restaurants, movie theater, etc.).
Free parking is available at our apartment building.
The beach town of Scheveningen is a peaceful 30 minute bike ride away, and there is a large nature area by the beach, which is also about 30 minutes away (by bike). We love the nature area, as during the day it seems like you are a million miles away from the city.
The apartment is about a 5 minute walk to a tram station that can take you to the center of the Hague, Delft, Parliament, Girl with a Pearl Earring, and the large train stations! The apartment is a 5-10 minute bike ride from two major train stations (and a 30 minute bike ride to Central Station). From these stations, Rotterdam and Leiden are 20 to 30 minutes away and Amsterdam is about 40 minutes.
The NS train station near our home has a sprinter train which goes directly to Schiphol airport.
We would like you to come on June 12th to meet us and the animals. You would need to find your own place to stay for the night.
We have hosted other house sitters and I (Shelley) am a house sitter. We can offer more recent testimonials or reviews if you would like :)
No, sorry.

Long weekend in the Hague
We stayed at Shelley and Roderick's apartment for 4 days and enjoyed the company of 2 birds and one cat. It was easy and no stress house-sit with everything very well explained by the owners!

My first awesome housesitting adventure
Shelley and Roderic welcomed me into there home for 3 weeks, while they were on holiday. Their appartment is situated in a great environment close to a big mall, near the big cities. Easy available by bike or public transport. Their cats Grumpus and Kitkat are lovely. Grumpus is more of a cuddler and Kitkat needs a bit of time to adapt. But eventually she will came to hang out to. I really enjoyed my stay and I would be happy to housesit again.

Nice housesit with Grumpus and Kitkat
I spent 4 days house-sitting for Shelley, taking care of her two cats Grumpus and Kitkat. Shelley was super nice and helpful, she gave me all the tips and advice I could need during my staying, and in case I needed anything, I could text her or ring her neighbour's doorbell. The flat is located in a comfortable area of The Hague with a shopping centre and a park closeby; the cats were lovely and it was a pleasure to look after them. A recommended housesit!

August House and Cat Sit
This was our first housesit and from the start Shelley and Roderic made us feel welcome. Shelley provided detailed information before we set off and was always quick to respond to any questions I had. Roderic very kindly gave us a tour of the local area when we called to see them on the night before the sit began, this was very useful in finding our way round during our stay. The cats were lovely and well behaved and Shelley and Roderic made sure we had all we needed to look after them. A real bonus was the use of their bikes for the duration of our stay - we felt like real locals! Thank you both very much, we would certainly recommend this opportunity to anyone considering house and cat sitting in the Netherlands.
