About this assignment
A reliable mature and trustworthy person or couple who will live in our house when we are away for periods of 1-8 weeks. The main requirement is for a cat lover who will look after our friendly 16 year old cat, George, and will treat our house as their own, ie keeping it clean and tidy. Ideally someone who we get to know and if possible will come back from time to time when we are away for extended periods.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
Looking after our cat and looking after our house, so that it is not left empty for periods. George is extremely friendly and likes company. Bringing in the mail and informing us of any phone messages would be helpful. Locking up and keeping the house secure are obvious requirements..
What are the good features of the property and location
It is a large, Victorian semi, well appointed with spacious bedrooms, living rooms and kitchen. It is set in a half acre garden, but is close to the attractive village of Alderley Edge. The house is at the end of a quiet cul de sac of only a few houses, and all the neighbours are extremely friendly and welcoming. It is a 5-7 minute walk to the village centre, and railway station. It has a private drive and plenty of parking. There are excellent train services into Manchester and south to Crewe and London.
It is close to the countryside, and the National Trust beauty spot of Alderley Edge, but only half an hour from the Peak District and Manchester City centre.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
Their availability when we require house sitters this spring and summer. Their willingness to spend some time with George, and to look after his needs, (which mainly consist of food!) He is, like most cats, very fussy.
Can I bring my own pets?

Lovely old house ideally situated for visiting many stately homes and gardens. Great walks at varying distances within easy reach. The Peak District is less than an hours drive with spectacular scenery. The hosts were lovely and supplied everything we could want. George the ginger Tom must be the worlds easiest cat to look after. He has a very good appetite and will ask for more at all times of the day. He will find you. All in all a very pleasant stay and some fine memories of our outings. Would recommend to any sitters.

Beautiful home, excellent companion!
I spent most of the summer in Gill and Alan's home hanging out with George, who is the sweetest cat in the world! He's a true lap cat, and just wants to be near you. I work from home so I appreciated the company. The house is really beautiful, and the upkeep is much easier than you'd expect. It's bright and spacious, the grounds are gorgeous, and the bed in my room was like sleeping on clouds. I slept better than I ever have. The kitchen is wonderful, has everything, I loved cooking there. The house is a short walk from the train that is a 20 min ride to Manchester. It's on a private street, and all of the neighbors know each other, so I felt very safe. Gill and Alan are wonderful hosts. They made me feel very welcome. They responded quickly to messages while they were away, and were through in going over everything in the house before they left. The provided a manual with extensive useful information I could refer to if I had any questions about the house. I highly recommend this house sit. I will gladly go back :)
