About this assignment
We are looking for a couple/team of two who love big dogs and also love cats equally. We have two big goofy dogs and a smaller one, who is the most energetic of the three. They are part of the family and sleep indoors. We also have two kitties, who will love on you once they get to know you. Our home is in the mountains, about 30 minutes away from Taos, NM. The May dates are somewhat flexible and can be discussed. (We need 3 weeks total).
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
Feed the dogs and cats in the a.m. and p.m. Spend time with them - the dogs love long hikes. We would like someone who will be at our house each day and night, but the pets are fine with a half or a full day on their own now and then, so there will be plenty of time for hikes and sightseeing.
What are the good features of the property and location
Beautiful area; lots of hiking trails out our front door; lots of horses, and if you are lucky you get to see coyotes, bears, or elk. Great back deck to enjoy the views while surfing the internet or drinking your morning coffee. It's very quiet at night and when it is clear you can see the Milky Way. You can hear the creek Rio del Pueblo. We are just off the "Highroad To Taos" Scenic Byway. Los Alamos, Abiquiu, Red River, and Angel Fire are easy driving distance from here.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
We don't live in town, so grocery stores are about 30 minutes away. There is a Dollar Store 10 minutes away as well as a great little Bistro in Peñasco. Our home is very simple and doesn't have a microwave or a dishwasher. We are about 1.5 hours north of Santa Fe and 30 minutes southeast of Taos.

Amazing Sit in the Rockies!
I’ve sat for Chris and Caroline twice and absolutely love their crew! They are all so loveable, sweet, and well behaved. Their house is comfortable and clean and their deck is amazing! It’s so peaceful lounging out there, in the sunshine and not getting too hot in the summer. There are many great areas to hike and picnic. Can’t miss Taos Pueblo just down the road. I literally would have to make a huge list of all the adventures, I’ve had in their area. Just a great sit every time!

Fabulous homeowners and fur babies
My husband and I have sat for Chris and Caroline two times, once in August and once in April. We love all the dogs and kitties. They are all so loveable and appreciate the love and attention we gave them. This is a quiet setting. Hikes right out the front door. Great internet and cell service if you connect to wifi calling. Or hike to the top of the hill and get cell service. Penasco is just down the road and has a great Bistro. Must try any of their desserts. Or go down a little further to Rancho de Chamayo restaurant. Taos isn't too far away to pick up groceries. Chris and Caroline leave great instructions. They are easy to get in contact with and answer questions quickly. The sunsets from the back deck are award winning. I highly recommend Chris and Caroline and their lively crew of fur babies.
