We are looking for a single person or couple who can look after our 2 hens. Someone happy to do a bit of looking after our vegetables in the polytunnel and to mow the lawn. We need someone independent and totally reliable to be there please.
Feeding the hens daily, collecting eggs, and cleaning out once a week. Watering the polytunnel each morning. Mowing the lawn once a week. These things won't take long, so you'll have plenty of time to yourself.
We have a wonderfully renovated old stone cottage with wood burner for you to stay in. It is fully equipped with a kitchen and bathroom with shower. It is quite compact, clean, warm and enough space for living and storage for a couple. You will also have use of the kitchen and the utility room in our house (right next to the cottage). We've lots of books and games you can use. We grow lots of our own vegetables and fruit organically, in our polytunnel, outside beds and orchard, so I can show you salads, courgettes, strawberries etc for you to eat while we're gone. We've lovely gardens with views over the mountains, and are only 10 minutes drive from the Shannon river with good riverside walks, and the twin towns of Killaloe and Ballina, which are at the mouth of Lough Derg, a huge lake with watersport facilities. There is mountain walking with lake views from behind the house.
No smokers please.
We are 1 1/2 miles from the nearest village with 2 pubs, and 3 1/2 miles from the beautiful riverside town of Killaloe in Clare, with supermarkets, lots of cafes, library, bank, pharmacies and other shops. Ideally you will have your own transport.
For access to a bigger town, we are 10 miles from Limerick city. There are local buses that go from our village to Limerick every day. It would suit someone who enjoys peace, quiet and being in a rural location.
There is a radio in the cottage. Wifi will be available, and also can be accessed in Killaloe (in many cafes and the library).
Address your email to Kathy.
No, sorry.

Super nice dog
The dog jackson was the most beautiful, friendly well behaved dog, great company. Rabbit and chickens also enjoyable to look after. Scenic views, stone cottage, polly tunnel to water. Killaloe town 15 mins away, beautiful walks and scenery.

Lovely people, pets and place
We spent a Really enjoyable few days minding Kathy and Paul’s pets, house and garden. Our hosts were very welcoming and friendly. Jackson the dog was a happy easy little companion and a pleasure to have around. We also fed and minded the hens and rabbit, and watered the poly tunnel, and enjoyed some fresh organic eggs and tomatoes for our efforts. The accommodation was a separate little stone cottage, with a toasty wee stove, surrounded by orchard and lush flowers. We needed for nothing and made the most of time in the most beautiful county in Ireland.

Great pet sit with superfriendly Cockapoo
We have just completed a great two week pet sit for Kathy and Paul in Co. Clare, Ireland looking after their superfriendly Cockapoo Jackson, their two rabbits Miffy and Parsley, their polytunnel and garden. Kathy and Paul and their family are very friendly and made us feel very welcome. Right from first contact Kathy was very organised and informed us of everything we needed to know for our sit. We had a day overlap and were given great instructions for our stay. Kathy even cooked a lovely meal for us the day we arrived. We stayed in the small but cosy newly renovated cottage on the grounds which had everything we needed for our stay. The location of the property is super, in the countryside with wonderful views but still within easy reach of a supermarket and tourist attractions (Killaloe and Limerick). Jackson was a delight to look after, such a friendly, easy-going, happy dog, easy to take for walks, take in the van, plenty of play and cuddle time. He would spend most of the time with us in the cottage and around the grounds/garden/on walks or come along with us in the van. At night he would go back into his crate in the main house for sleeping, which is what he is used to. Our other duties were looking after the two lovely rabbits (feeding, some interaction with them, cleaning their pens and litter trays), the three chickens (letting them out of their coup in the morning and in again at night, feeding, cleaning their coup and run, collecting and eating the delicious organic eggs), the polytunnel (watering, harvesting and eating the strawberries and lettuce) and mowing the lawn. This did not take long morning and evening, leaving plenty of time to play and walk with Jackson and explore the area. We had a great time, we loved Jackson and are really missing him. We can thoroughly recommend pet sitting for Kathy and Paul.

Lovely cottage and hosts in Co. Clare
Kathy and Paul and their two lovely kids Hazel and Rowan were a joy to housesit for. Kathy did the organising with us, and was very communicative and honest from the start which made our job really easy. Paul was also really helpful in our arrival and departure from the countryside cottage and gave us lots of great information on the local wildlife. We looked after their gorgeous dog Jackson and their adoptive cat, as well as their rabbits, chickens, polytunnel and beautiful strawberry patch which was a really fun countryside experience. The cottage was really practical and the kitchen was well furnished. The distance from town and supermarkets was the only difficulty during our stay here, but they kindly lent us their bikes so that we could cycle into town for supplies and a great local coffee. Kathy and Paul were really communicative whilst they were away which helped us feel comfortable in the space, and help them to feel like their house and pets were well cared for. We would highly recommend Kathy and Paul's cottage to other people looking to housesit! Thanks again to you both, and your lovely kids.
