We are looking for someone (or a couple) who would love to look after our house and walk our small dog and give her attention while we visit my family for about 1,5 months (dates can change a little). Our house is in Haddenham, a good location to visit Ely, Cambridge and London.
The dog's routine is quite simple. Tomya only requires a 30-40 min walk a day, some play time, fresh water, her breakfast and her dinner. You would be able to go out during the day after walking her and give her more attention in the evening.
We have a two bedroom cottage with a nice kitchen, garden and fireplace. You are welcome to use our kitchen if you would like to cook. In our village, you will find a grocery shop, a good pub, a craft centre and good fields for walks. It is possible to do day trips to the nearby cities such as Ely, Cambridge and London. The house is 5 miles from Ely. Ely has an amazing Cathedral and tourist potential such as walks by the canal, an incredible bookshop, an award-winning tearoom, several shops, pubs and a street market. From Ely you can get the train to Cambridge (15 min journey costing approximately £4 return) and London (1h20min journey – approximately £25 pounds return).
We offer free wifi and tv. There are two desks if you need to do remote work.
We would like you to feel at home, but please keep the house clean and tidy. Just simple things. E.g: if you cook please do the dishes, do not waste electricity or water, put the rubbish out, no shoes on the carpet, things like that.
Tomya is friendly and cute. We had four pet sitters before and they all bonded really easily with her. Due to covid-19, we will make sure the house sitting is done with social distance measures. We can discuss a way for both of us to feel safe.
Anyone interested in taking on a future opportunity to care for Vivian and Matt's home and pooch will find they are considerate and welcoming. Before I arrived in England, Vivian was an excellent communicator both via Skype, email and texts. She provided lots of local information on transportation options and things to do. They picked me up from and returned me to the nearby train station. Upon arrival, Matt prepared a delicious meal. During my month-long stay Viv was excellent in answering quickly any questions or concerns I had. Pooch Tomya is young, energetic, playful and intelligent. She loves long walks, off-leash romps in the field nearby, responds well to food and treats (like cheese, bananas and carrots) and makes herself at home in your lap ready for cuddles. The village has a lovely pub, butcher shop, pharmacy, library and an especially nice Craft Center with a few artist studios, a gallery filled with tempting local artist-made gifts to look at or buy and a colorful café with a small selection of great food and baked goods. The cathedral town of Ely is accessible by a local bus service and reached within a 25-minute ride that winds through several nearby villages. If you like nature, want to experience a village environment in Cambridgeshire, England and be surrounded by fields and fens as well as enjoy quality time with a playful pooch consider Viv and Matt's place. It's ideal for one person or a couple.
I loved staying at Vivian’s cosy house and taking care of her little dog Tomya and her rabbit Flouncey! They are adorable pets! Vivian was very welcoming and gave me all the instructions for the pet care and for visiting the local area. In the surroundings there are lovely walks and possibility to visit Ely and Cambridge. I would definitely go back.Highly recommended!
We had a lovely time at Vivian and Matthew's house in Cambridgshire! They gave good instructions and were always helpful with any questions and even showed us around Cambridgeshire a little. Tomya is a wonderful and playful young dog and we had a great time playing with her and taking her for walks in the surrounding fields. The village is quiet and peaceful but the essentials are close at hand e.g. a supermarket and a Pub with excellent food and you can go to the nearby towns by bus or bike. All in all a great housesitt, we would be happy to see them again!
