About this assignment

We are looking for in individual or couple to take care of our wonderful 9 year old lab mix, Winnie. She is a lovable, athletic dog who really enjoys company....... BEING A DOG LOVER IS JOB ONE! Very few other tasks. None-smoker preferred.....and no guns please.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Just look after our dog and respect our home, please. Water a few house plants and put the garbage out. Simple.....

What are the good features of the property and location

Once we receive your application we'll forward photos of our home, the surrounding forest and mountains and, of course, our dog, Winnie. Pollock Pines is a town of 5,000 people located at 4,000 feet elevation. Our house backs directly onto the Eldorado National Forest, which is why we like to say we own 300,000 acres! The views of the Sierra Nevada Mountains off the large and private back deck are out of this world. It is a quiet neighborhood and at night you can see for miles....... and yet not see a single light from the back deck. We have great neighbors and the area is very safe. Lots of wildlife! The housing association operates a pool (summer) and tennis courts and a frisbee golf course (year-round). The area is great for hiking and the nearby Jenkinson Lake (two miles away) provides opportunities for kayaking, etc. Stunning Lake Tahoe is less than an hour away.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Spring is a lovely time of year weather-wise in Pollock Pines, known as "Nature's Wonderland. Snow is a distinct possibility and many of the ski resorts are still open till May.
Our dog is great with people but not so great with other dogs, so you can't bring your own dog, I'm afraid.
The town center is a 5 minute drive with a CVS, 24 hour Safeway Store, True Value hardware store as well as several restaurants and a bowling alley, gas stations, banks, post office, etc. A larger town, Placerville, is only 20 minutes away and has everything you could possibly need.
Having a car would be helpful, though we could make one available for local use (shopping, etc.)
