About this assignment

We are looking for someone to take care of our dog (a Coton De Tulear) Enzo, and otherwise make themselves completely at home!

Enzo is super friendly with people and dogs, loves to play fetch (see photo...) and needs a walk in the morning (he will begin to remind you at 7.30am) and one in the evening (he will stare at you expectantly from around 5.30pm onwards). He gets fed once a day at around 8pm. All guidance as to his habits and needs etc will be given in detail.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Walk our little dude twice a day, feed him once a day and keep him company in the evening.

Tickle him under his back leg every now and again ;)

Enjoy Singapore and our house.

What are the good features of the property and location

Our flat is in the Tiong Bahru area of central Singapore, within a housing estate that is largely populated by locals (we are expats).

There are 3 double bedrooms (2 with beds currently), a large living room with lots of comfy seating and, all importantly, a high-quality projector and 110 inch screen (see photo) with cable TV and full sports package (particularly good if you are into the English Premiership....every single game is shown live). The main bedroom has an en-suite, and there is aircon in each bedroom. The kitchen is large and excellent, which was a requirement for us as we cook and bake a lot - you can feel free to do the same of course!

High speed wifi internet is also included.

The MRT station (the underground here in Singapore) is a 5 minute walk away, and the central area and CBD are only 5 minutes on the train.

Our place has a washing machine and also outdoor clothes drying area.

There are two showers and two bathrooms.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

We hate leaving him, so if you could be on Whatsapp or similar to let me know how things are going that would be great. I can also give Enzo related tips in case he has decided to refuse his food or anything.

He is used to being left alone from around 8.30am until 5.30pm on a daily basis, so you can feel free to leave him for fairly long periods. I'd definitely say however that he is best suited to a sitter or sitters who will not be out very late at night drinking etc....he is used to company in the evening.

Testimonials

Tiong Bahru, Singapore 14 Sept - 2 Oct 201 From our first meeting with David , Annie and Enzo we knew we would enjoy looking after this lovely little chap. We were made to feel very welcome David and Annie took us to their local dog friendly Thai restaurant and a walked us around the local dog friendly parks. and places. Enzo has been great fun, he is just the sweetest thing, such a character. When he is excited, especially treat time and before his walks he spins round and around like a mini tornado, it is so funny to watch. He loves to take us for walks around his neighbourhood to see his friends (human and furry) as he is quite a celebrity in the locality. Enzo is a Coton de Tulear an aptly named breed as they really are a big cotton fluff ball - who can resist that little face and his big eyes - we were thinking of asking to take him home with us. We have enjoyed the time here in Tiong Bahru, David and Annie live in an apartment in a brilliant location for sight seeing by using the MRT train as the station is a 5 minute walk away. There are so many shops, restaurants and hawker ( food ) centres in this area, everything is so near that we were never far or long away from home. We highly recommend this sit with such a beautiful little pup who we miss dearly.

We had the pleasure of watching Enzo, a young Coton de Tulear dog, for David and Annie in Singapore for 2 weeks over the holidays. We appreciated that David was organized and provided a written guide to Enzo's care, complete with maps of good walks and pet-friendly restaurants! Annie was nice enough to prepare a welcome basket for us, with full-sized toiletries, snacks, water bottles and fresh towels! This made us feel very welcome. We arrived the day before their trip to familiarize ourselves with Enzo's routine and slept in the guest room, where we stayed even though we had access to the master, as Enzo did not mind transitioning to sleep with us in the guest room. We were in contact with David most days via WhatsApp and sent photos and videos, and they remained easy to reach and responsive. If you haven't been to Singapore, it's a fantastic city/country. We've lived all over the world, and Singapore is unlike any other city in so many ways. The whole time we were there, we didn't see any mosquitos, homelessness, stray dogs, graffiti, beggars, and hardly a single pothole in the roads! It's very safe, clean and orderly, with drinkable water, excellent public transportation and sidewalks everywhere. English is the unifying national language of this multi-cultural country, so, you should have no trouble getting around and fitting in. The people are very good at cueing (watch them for the proper techniques), and generally more serious and reserved, but also helpful and considerate. One thing to note about Singaporeans, however, is that we've never lived anywhere where there was such a fear of dogs. Even this small fluffy white dog on a leash sent no less than 10 people (mostly adults), into a state of terror. That's not to say that there weren't also people that cooed over him and pet him, but just be aware of how many people are afraid and give those people time to "get away" before approaching. You will see people throw their stop hand out or wave you off, stop and hold back children at 15 meters, or literally jump back if they happen upon him rounding a corner. Luckily, brave little Enzo just goes about his walks without paying much attention to anyone that isn't paying attention to him, and isn't phased by much. Unfortunately, Enzo also lacks a healthy fear of cars, so you'll need to watch him very closely when walking near busy streets. Singapore is also very hot and humid, so keep that in mind when deciding on your pet sit. The food is excellent and well-priced at the hawker centers, but Singapore in general is priced similarly to California. This is a lot to see and do in the city between Enzo's walks, and we went to the Botanical Gardens, SEA Aquarium, Marina Bay, Orchard Road and China Town, and would recommend them all. We spend New Year's Eve at Star Island on The Float at Marina Bay, and the 1 hour fireworks show there was the best we've seen! David and Annie's apartment is very comfortable, with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a big kitchen with washer, chaise sofa, super fast internet (we work from home online), and a big projector set-up for TV and movies. They have A/C if needed and the hot water was also excellent, plus they have a bath tub. Americans may miss having a clothes dryer or microwave, or hot water in the kitchen, but other than that, I think it's like other modern apartments. The kitchen has everything you need to cook, and you can find many of the imported items you're used to at the Cold Storage, although you'll pay more for such things. The location is also excellent, just a 5 minute walk from a metro stop. I would definitely recommend any dog-loving pet-sitter to consider any available opportunities to watch Enzo. If you can stand the heat and don't smoke, chew gum, or litter, you'll love Singapore! We loved adorable Enzo and Singapore, and will definitely return to that urban utopia one day. Thank you David and Annie and Enzo!
