About this assignment

Looking for a house sitter that can keep an eye on the house and care for the ducks and chickens. Preferably a single person, but I am open to a couple.
I am somewhat flexible on sitting dates. Could be an earlier or later start . . . and a bit shorter or longer in duration.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

I have 2 very sweet, entertaining ducks and 3 chickens. They just need to be let out and fed in the morning and put back in in the evening. Once a week or so, the duck pond (kiddie pool) needs to be drained and refilled with fresh water. I have a backup friend who can cover if you are away for a day or two.

What are the good features of the property and location

Eugene is a wonderful town with a thriving University, lots of hiking close by, great parks, good music, restaurants, and a saturday market. It also known as 'Track Town USA' so a great place for runners!

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

I do have a downstairs apt (lower level of the house) that is rented to a very responsible, full time nurse at the local hospital. Very mature and friendly!

Can I bring my own pets?

No, sorry.

Quiet, Peaceful

Fran welcomed me into her home before she left on her trip. She explained and showed me the tasks involved caring for the ducks and chickens in addition to her house. The written instructions she provided for me were very helpful. Taking care of the flocks included letting them out of the enclosures in the morning and securing them every evening, feeding them, providing them fresh water and regularly cleaning the duck kiddie pool. Other tasks included watering plants and cleaning after oneself, taking trash to curb and bringing in the mail. The neighborhood is quiet and safe. There are restaurants, post office and stores within walking distance, but hilly. I recommend coming by car. Both ducks and chickens provided me with plenty of fresh eggs which were delightful. Her home is cozy and comfortable with stunning views of the Cascade mountain range, billowing clouds and superb bird watching from her windows. Housesitting for Fran and caring for her ducks and chickens was a memorable, peaceful and enjoyable experience. Thank you, Fran.
