About this assignment

We are now at that stage in our lives when we want to travel a little bit so need a reliable person/persons to feed our semi-feral cat twice a day.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Toby (now quite elderly) needs feeding twice a day. Other than that, your time is your own. He is used to being fed at various times of the day, so you don't even need to be here at set times in order to feed him, as long as it's morning and evening.

What are the good features of the property and location

We live in a warm bungalow in a rural location yet within walking distance of the village which has a shop and a pub. The bungalow is set in 2.5 acres of land with a stable yard. Beaches are less than 5 miles away.
We have a beautiful conservatory opening on to decking with countryside views. We have superfast broadband for you to use.
The property has a dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, jacuzzi bath plus a shower under a glass roof so it's just like showering outdoors!
Guest bedroom has a standard 4' 6" double bed, plus wardrobe/drawers for storage.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

If you are wanting to explore Cornwall, then you will need a car, although there is a bus stop at the end of the lane which takes you to the closest towns which have good rail links. Frequency is't great or reliable.

Can I bring my own pets?

No, sorry.

Great sit in a beatiful Cornwall

It has been a fantastic stay in Heather and John's lovely home. They pick me and my wife from the railway station. We've had a lovely dinner and a chat about their adorible cat Toby and instructions which would be helpful for the next 2 weeks. Toby was at first quite shy but got used to us and liked our company in the evenings. We've had time meanwhile to visit few places recommended by Heather. Altogether a superb experience. Thank you very much. Kris and Ewa April 2026

House/Cat Sit Cornwall

Heather and John were very nice homeowners. We arrived 2 days early and had the chance to get to know them and learn everything about caring for the 2 outdoor cats and the home. Toby and Minnie are 16 year old cats that mainly live in the barns and always show up for feeding time! Over time Toby allowed us to pet him and he loved it! The home is in a rural area on 3 acres, comfortable home with everything you need. We had a car which made travel very easy. There are many wonderful places to visit, churches, gardens, manor houses and the beautiful Cornwall towns and villages. Close enough to explore many attractions. We highly recommend doing this house sit. Dennis and Diane Vancouver BC Canada

Wonderful stay in Cornwell

We absolutely loved our stay in St Austell at Heather and John’s home. The home was wonderful and the area had so much to see nearby. We tried to get the kitties into the house with us but they preferred to stay outside in the barns until mom and dad returned, as they are known to do ! Heather and John had great instructions and we were able to go over them with the sitters before us. Communication was easy. I highly recommend this house sit to anyone. Would love to stay again!!

I really enjoyed my recent house sit for Heather and John. A lovely, welcoming couple who made sure everything was okay for my stay. The bungalow is warm and cosy, a conservatory provides an ideal spot to watch the birds feeding and the visiting wildlife; very tranquil and peaceful. I would have no hesitation in recommending them as home owners.

Heather and John were super friendly and had everything set up for a really lovely and easy housesit. At the time we stayed there were only 2 semi ferrel cats living in an outhouse to feed...so very easy, their home is super clean and comfortable and bright and they are situated in the countryside but with quick and easy access to coast, towns, country walks...all that Cornwall has to offer really. We look forward to staying again but definitely recommend if we’re not available!

Cats and birds in beautiful Cornwall

I applied for Cornwall because it's a long time since I visited Great Britain. It was such a chance when Heather accepted my application. It was a pleasure to talk and see the cat and birds, the beautiful, huge garden and the house on our video chat. My home owner Barbara in Switzerland, where I did cat and housesitting did send Heather some words about me because I did not have a testimonial by than. After that we fixed the dates and I started planning my routes from Bavaria to London, from London to St. AUSTELL in Cornwall. Heather and her husband picked me up from the train station. We had some time together and Heather showed me around and introduced me to her cats. There where 2 outdoor cats in a stable I fed Toby and Minnie twice a day. But rarely saw them. Trouble is a very fascinating cat. Shy but very clever and in some way very sweet. Till he got used to me took some time and after 8 days she stayed around me, knew when I was coming home. In the morning he needed a lot of attention but after a while he started to watch and hunt. It was so interesting to follow him. We became good friends and I miss Trouble. I didn't live far away from the busstation. Early in the morning I packed my Rucksack and explored Cornwall. MEVAGISSEY, ST..IVES, all was reachable within one day. The weather was fantastic so I could spend often my time on Pentewan Beach and pub. A wonderful place, walking through woods and fields 7 miles, returning by bus. Sometimes I could not believe that I see such a beautiful country. Heather and I where nearly dayli in a chat on whattsaapp, super connection in the house. Everything was perfect. I thank Heather and John for her trust in me. They are very nice people. Hope we see each other again. Thank you Esther

Fabulous house sit

We loved our recent house sit for Heather and John. They are a friendly, welcoming couple, who go out of their way to make sure sitters enjoy their stay, even providing a house sitters account on their computer, with unlimited WiFi and a freezer full of unlimited ice cream! The house is cosy and comfortable and is in a lovely area. The animals are absolutely adorable! We looked after Butch the Jack Russell, Pipit the pony and Minnie, Toby, Toffee and Trouble the cats... they were no trouble, despite the name! Heather provided a booklet full of all the necessary information about the house and animals and was at the end of an email to answer any queries. We would happily sit for them again and I would strongly recommend them to anyone looking for a Cornish house sit.
