About this assignment

I am looking for somebody that will be around at least some of the day to look after my gorgeous furry and feathered family. The cats love company and cuddles. The cats are fed on demand really but have biscuits down all the time.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

The geese free range in the back garden and just do their own thing. The poultry need letting out and shutting in daily. They will also need food, water and treats and I poo pick the coops every morning (10 mins). They will need a proper mucking out once a week which takes approx 30 - 45 minutes. I have to stress this is really important to me. ALL of my animals are pets, inside and outside and all equally important so if you’re not willing to don a pair of gloves each morning and pick up some chicken poop, then this isn’t for you.
We have a large pond full of gold fish who will need feeding once a day.
If the weather is dry, my outside plants and pots will need watering daily. I also have around 5 house plants that will need watering a couple of times a week.

What are the good features of the property and location

Semi rural location with stunning walks in every direction from our doorstep. Five minutes by car to the small town of Heathfield or a 20 minute brisk walk. Lots of fabulous takeaways. Eastbourne and Tunbridge Wells both 30 minutes away by car or bus and we now have a bus service to Brighton.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Some may find this quite demanding. I don’t at all, it’s my life! Most sitters have embraced it but it’s perhaps easier for a couple. There is always someone wanting a cuddle or feeding! I have the noisiest cat in the World! He talks constantly, you can literally have a conversation with him. He is an Arabian Mau and chattiness is typical of the breed but I think he makes up for a few others! Adorable soul though and not a bad bone. The other cat is a nutter, still very young and absolutely gorgeous. I have two very handsome cockerels called Midge and Owl who will greet you with a cock a doodle doo in the morning. I have 19 chickens, mostly ex commercial rescues, two beautiful geese and four crazy, hilarious Guinea fowl.

Can I bring my own pets?

No, sorry.

Wonderful Pet & House Sit in Country Cottage

I had a wonderful time house and pet-sitting for Jayne in East Sussex for one month. Her friend picked me up from Gatwick Airport which was so lovely and I was spoiled with lots of delicious food when I arrived at her house. Jayne left clear instructions and showed me how to do all of the daily and weekly chores, including mucking out the chicken and geese houses once a week. It's a beautiful home and the chickens, geese, fish, two dogs, and — my favorite — the cat, are all really gorgeous. Each with their own unique personality. I also enjoyed going walking with Florence every day in the forest. Although it was quite a bit of work for me, on top of my work and study schedule, overall I treasured the experience. The neighbors are also friendly, and welcoming and there is you need anything. I also loved the country air and quiet, nature area. Jayne dropped me off at the airport at the end — which was very kind of her. I recommend this house and pet sit — especially for a couple who can share the load. Thank you Jayne for welcoming me into your house and letting me spend time with your babies. Of course, I miss them! Especially Mr. P. x
