About this assignment

I am looking for a sitter for my indoor-cat Bianca.
The sitter should come at least day earlier to get to know everything.
Bianca has had a hard life. She was thrown out of her home and got into a fight with the local street cats. A friend of mine found her and brought her to the vet, who had to amputate her tail. I said I'll take her, because I had another cat, who had lost his sister and wanted company. But Bianca had learnt that all cats are bad and decided to reside in the kitchen. Since the other cat died, (3 years ago) she is the queen of the place and now always wants to be close to me.
The cat-sitter would not only have to feed the cat two or three times per day, clean the cat toilet and water the flowers in the patio and on the balcony, but also have some cuddle and play time with her. It is more important to have a happy cat than to be spotlessly clean. She likes to sleep in the bed with me, so there is always cat's hair.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Most important: take care of the cat, if you are out for the whole day, feeding in the morning is sufficient (but she will complain on your return, so don't do it every day), check the water dish, clean the litter-box, cuddle and play with Bianca. Also check that the plants in the patio and on the balcony survive. Don't stay away overnight. This is a non-smoking household.

What are the good features of the property and location

I live in a large rented appartment in a pedestrian street in the centre of this really Spanish baroque town. The house was built in the 70s, so it is a bit old fashioned. If you care for modern bathrooms, it is probably not the right choice. Cooking and hot water is with individual gas bottles. The is no air conditioning, but with clever opening and closing of shutters and windows, inside temperature doesn't get over about 28°C (when it might be more than 40° outside in summer). The bedroom has a ceiling fan.
Antequera is called the heart of Andalucia and is well communicated by bus and train with all the major cities like Málaga, Córdoba, Granada, Sevilla. But even being in the middle, it is not very touristic, but a real Spanish town; perfect for someone who wants to learn the language, because people hardly speak any English, but they are friendly and helpful and try to understand you. I will of course introduce you to some English-speaking friends (that's why you should come earlier).
The town is big enough to have everything you need, but not so big, that you feel trapped. Within ten minute walking you are out in the „campo“.
I would prefer a single person, who will get the guest bedroom, but a couple could have my bedroom with a double bed and I'll move to the guest room.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

The cat-sitter should arrive at least day earlier and leave a day after my arrival. You are welcome to stay longer though. There is reliable internet via wifi. Hot water and cooking is by gas bottles and there is always a spare one. If you would have to buy additional ones, they are delivered to the flat.

Can I bring my own pets?

No, sorry.

Royal cat.

I spent a wonderful time in Antequera taking care of a wonderful cat. The city is simply wonderful and there are many wonderful places around which you can visit. The hostess agreed to leave me for another 4 days because I have a plane later. thank you very much for this.

A gem of a housesit. :)

Thank you so much Susanne. It has been pure pleasure taking care of Moritz and (princess) Bianca. :) They love to be loved and played with and they get stuck in duvets which is hilarious. Your flat is full of wonders, oozing with creativity and simply one of a kind. The city is beautiful. Nature is just around the corner, in fact, it's just around almost every corner. There's plenty of events in the town, always something going on. Busses to Granada and Malaga and many other places are very frequent. The days, even in December, are almost always sunny though we did see snow (for a few minutes :)). We had an awesome time. Thank you again and let's keep in touch.
