We are looking for a housesitter who loves cats and plants and enjoys being in a quiet rural location. The location does require a car due to its rural nature.
The housesitter's responsibilities include feeding and looking after the cat, tending the houseplants and greenhouse plants and monitoring the garden as well as looking after the house. There may need to be some watering of the garden in dry weather.
The property is in a small village in a rural location in Essex close to Colchester and Tiptree. The house enjoys excellent views over the River Blackwater and is close to the saltmarshes bordering the river. The location is ideal for someone who enjoys walking with excellent walks round the neighbouring RSPB reserve.
Potential housesitters will need a car as public transport is limited in this area. The house is in a quiet rural setting and ideal for walking, but around 10 minutes drive away from the nearest shops.
No, sorry.

Lovely lady with an adorable cat in beautiful countryside
Anne was a warm and welcoming host who made me feel like an old friend. She made us dinner, after which we sat chatting together all evening, putting the world to rights. Anne’s home is a comfortable and relaxing space, it has lovely views over the surrounding countryside, visible from the large windows which make it almost as light inside as outside. Lola the cat is very sweet natured, gentle and affectionate once she gets to know you. She came and sat on my lap for a short while every day and then moved to her favourite position next to me on the arm of the sofa. I was so happy to sit for Anne that I hope to sit for her again in the future.

Superb setting and faultless owners
Fabulous accommodation on the edge of an RSPB reserve, this is a sitting opportunity I am delighted to have had the chance to enjoy. Anyone who may be looking for a quiet location and who will value countryside walks into a wildlife reserve - this will be difficult to beat. I met Anne on the day I arrived and she was very friendly and explained everything clearly and the house was very clean and tidy. I enjoyed the 15/20 minutes garden watering each day that was needed in the hot wrather and the cat was no trouble at all - living its own life in and out via the cat/flap and not an affection seeker, full of character and only needing its food putting out. It was a priviledge to take advantage of this home and lovely gardens and would highly recommend it to anyone.
