About this assignment

I need a dog and house-sitter for various times during the year. The house has plenty of room, off road parking and a nice garden, lots of walking lanes around the village, has 1 double bedroom for the house-sitter, bathroom with bath and separate shower, utility room, kitchen, lounge, dining room,

2 miles away there is a large village with supermarket,take-away food shops,a pub(with a good range of real ales),chemist, dry cleaner, doctor, dentist, vet, and police station. This village has a Thai restaurant/pub 5 minutes walk away, and is 13 miles from Cambridge, with a part-time bus service.

Central heating is included. There is parking for a car in the driveway, and a bicycle to use. Also, my adult son lives here, in his own room, so the bathroom is shared. He goes to work with different shifts.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Responsibilities include tending to my vegetables, which will need watering from time to time, and generally looking after the place, and keeping in touch with me.Most important is caring for my dog, so lots of walking and feeding properly.

What are the good features of the property and location

Cambridge centre is close by,with it's university,12 miles away, and local sights such as Ely cathedral,Grantchester meadows,Duxford air museum,London is 45 minutes by train,or 60 minutes by car,Stansted airport is 35 miles.
The house is situated in a quiet village, with little crime or disorder.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

I am in a quiet village,so do not expect nightlife..other than bats, and foxes..The care of my dog is paramount. Also, my adult son lives here, in his own room, so the bathroom is shared. He goes to work with different shifts. He can walk the dog at some periods during the day, to allow the house-sitter time to explore the area, it just needs liaison with him.

Can I bring my own pets?

No, sorry.

Testimonials

As described

It was a great experience looking after Lara a friendly German Shepherd. We did 2 long walks each day of about 45 minutes duration. She can pull strongly if on the scent of another animal, but otherwise was good to care for. Richard accurately described the situation. He has a great productive garden and allotment with different vegetables and fruits to eat in season. He communicated well in the App and via Whatsapp. Richard Jnr was also easy to get along with and share the house with.
