About this assignment
We are looking for a caring and respectful person or a couple to keep our cats company and water our plants for about a week around the New Years - between the 25th of June and the 16th of July (It is fine if there is some overlap on the leaving date because we have an extra room)
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
The house sitter will have to water our plants 2 times a week and take care of our house and cats - feeding them twice a day, giving them fresh water and keeping them company.
Their names are Fífa and Mosi and they are both outdoor cats.
What are the good features of the property and location
Our house is located in the West of Reykjavik, a quiet family neighbourhood which is within walking distance of downtown.
It is within close walking distance of a shop, cafe and a bakery. Iceland is famous for its outdoor thermal water swimming pools and we live right next door to one of the nicest in Reykjavik and close by the sea. There is a well equipped kitchen and other basic utilities including the use of a washing machine.
We are well connected by public transport and are a short bus ride from the main bus station with airport connections.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
Our female cat (Fífa) is on a diet and needs fed a little bit less food. It isn't too complicated, but it just takes some attention so she doesn't eat too much. Both of the cats are quite happy to be in by themselves for the day, so it is possible to take advantage of the many long day trips available from Reykjavík. They also really love company, so it would be great if you could spend some time with them.

Perfect sit
A fantastic opportunity to discover Reykjavik and the surrounding area, it was really a memorable experience and there is so much to do with everything in walking distance from their lovely cozy apartment. Miso and Fifa were both a pleasure to look after and very independent. Bus connections to and from the airport are very convenient and for the many daytrips you can take advantage of. Reykjavik itself is a beautiful city, lots of thermal pools, attractions, and boat trips to nearby islands and for spotting wildlife. I felt so lucky to see whales, seals, and porpoises in the harbour :)) and the aurora. Most of all, Adam and Elfur were so welcoming and a pleasure to meet, thanks for the opportunity and all the best to you both. Wouldn't hesitate to return :) Highly recommend.

Caring for Mosi & Fifa in Reykjavik
A very big thank you to a truly warm and hospitable young couple, who made us very welcome in there home. Adam & Elfur were great, they made contact with us and we had a chat regarding the cats and the house sit, we were good to go and delighted to be given this exciting opportunity. We received great information from them regarding the city and the surrounding areas, giving us lots to ponder on the visit. We were meet by Elfur and introduce to their lovely cats, a quick tour of the city and the hand over went very smoothly. We kept in touch during the visit with a few updates. We will forever be grateful for this opportunity. On their return we spent another two nights with them as we had to wait for our return flight. This gave us a lovely chance to get to know them better, share stories and meet Adam who was away when we arrived. If anyone ever gets an opportunity to house sit for them……you’ll need to beat us to it!!! Thanks again and wishing you lots of good times on your travels.

Lovely cat and apartment
Elfur and Kisa are both sweeties whom we really enjoyed meeting. Elfur did everything she could to make our stay in Amsterdam enjoyable, she made space for us to hang clothes and left out a guide book for us to borrow which we appreciated. Kisa is a lovely, gentle, playful cat who is very easy to look after. She kept us entertained batting her ball and bobbin around the apartment. Elfur's apartment is in an amazing location, right on a canal so you get a great view from the lounge window. The Anne Frank house is at the end of the road and you can walk to many museums and art galleries. Thanks for inviting us into your home Elfur, we had an amazing stay and loved spending time with Kisa.

Lovely Cat and Cosy Home in Amsterdam
Elfur was very welcoming and helpful. She did everything so I could have a pleasant stay and made sure I had all I needed. The home is really cosy and sweet, lots of space and right in the middle of one of the nicest areas in Amsterdam! It really is a place to feel comfortable. Kisa, the cat, was the cutest! Very curious and also careful and gentle. A little shy in the beginning, but then she was really playful and enjoyed her cuddle. I hope to meet them again and spend more time with Kisa and also Elfur!
