About this assignment

A reliable, mature, non smoking, single person to housesit. Someone who can communicate with me while I am away and deal with any minor problems. Someone who is comfortable using technology.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Look after the house and house plants and feed Willow. Keep the house clean and tidy, safe and secure and deal with any minor household emergencies. Perhaps do minor gardening tasks, including cutting the grass (electric mower).

What are the good features of the property and location

The house is semi detached and is in south Edinburgh, about 3 miles/5 kms from the city centre. The house sitter's accommodation is on the ground floor. There is broadband, double bedroom, a sitting room with TV and dining area, kitchen, shower room, small room that is ideal for working or reading and a sheltered, secluded south facing garden with patio area for sunny early spring days. The house has an intruder alarm. There is ample, free on street parking and excellent, 24/7 public transport (bus) less than 5 minutes walk away. The city centre is 25 minutes by bus, local shops are 5 minutes walk and there are large shopping centres 2 miles, 3kms away. There are excellent neighbours who always make house sitters feel welcome.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

They need to like cats and be good with house plants. They need to be committed to recycling and saving energy and a contribution towards the cost of energy used is requested. The house has gas central heating, gas hob and solar panels. There is a fairly steep front drive and 3 steps up to the front door. The posted dates include some overlap with me at the start and finish, so there is some flexibility. I am away 27 January 26 to 22 April 26. References are required.
