Maloo is on medication given easily with food.
Seeking an experienced animal lover for many rescued cats and one sensitive dog.
Someone who is intrepid and enjoys camping/nature as this tiny cottage is bereft of creature comforts and who has experience with rescue dogs.
Feed the cats twice daily and Maloo twice daily with medication.
There is a little coordinating required, ie, the blind cat sleeps in the bedroom at night as it's his safe space. He's very cuddly so you'd have to be okay sharing the room with him.
The office has its resident cat that also needs to stay in for the majority of the time and then it is to keep an eye on a couple of cats that have a weak immune system.
The cottage has a lovely sea view and is around 30 meters to the beach. Also in walking distance is a mini market, tavernas and coffee shops/bars.
The property itself is not for everyone. It's 100 year old tiny cottage awkwardly laid out. I can provide videos to give a more accurate idea of what it's like.
Comes with a manual car for your use to get around the island and into town. There is also a bus stop in walking distance.
A genuine love of animals and experience with sensitive dogs. Bathroom is an outhouse. There is no kitchen but a cook top outside on the patio and dishes etc are washed in a tub outside on the wall.
No, sorry.

Happy housesitting on wonderful Syros island...
This was a really special housesit and it's fair to say that Alice, the hostess, is a really special person. I visited in late September to mid-October when the weather I should say was just right (mid-20s), a light wind and no rain. There must have been at least a dozen cats I cared for here, plus a few others I got to know by sight who would drop by from time to time for a snack and a chat. I fell in love with Mya, but I would say that Yoko and Seymour and Nala all have a special place in my affections too! The whole gang were just amazing with all their little traits and characteristics to mark them out. But the pet I was with most of the time was Maloo who is a little doggy. We took to one another straight off the bat and had plenty of walks together every day. To the beach, round town or just chilling it was great to be with such a lively and loving doggy. She can be rambunctious especially when she comes across another dog she doesn't like, but once I figured out her ways then we were fine. Special mention to lovely Fifi, a neighbour's dog - what a little guy! He's fond of cats (in the traditional manner!) I personally think that Alice undersells her home in the description and I was very comfortable here. I would say if you have mobility issues it's not for you, plenty of steps to navigate, but otherwise it's fine. The bedroom was superb, very pleasant. The view from the patio is astonishing, mind-blowing as you look down on to the bay. Alice is a very caring woman, met me in Hermoupolis after I'd done some shopping and showed me about her town. She loves cats and has a rare empathetic bond with them. They love her, that's clear. If you get the chance to housesit here then take it, you won't regret!!

Lots of cats in Greek Paradise
I spent a whole month in November in the Greek Island of Syros looking after the house and the cats of Alice. Well... it's difficult to say if they were her cats. There was a huge bunch of them. Some were actually hers, some were shared with the neighbour and some just came often to eat. It was a lovely and unforgettable time in a not touristic time in a not so touristic island. Absolute quietness... almost the sensation of being the last survivor in Kini. I loved it! Her Neighbour, MarĂa, was a lovely person who brought me food frome time to time. Such a shame not to be able to communicate with her. I spent few days with Alice before her travel and she took absolute care of me and we had such a beautiful time together, talking the whole day about so many things and our travels. I absolutely recommend this place if you love cats and quietness! Thanks. Alice!

Beautiful Through & Through
First of all, Alice is a beautiful person through and through. What she does for the unloved animals of Syros is just incredible - and she's acquired quite the menagerie of lovely animals! I found her an absolute delight to deal with - no question I ever had was inconvenient - and I had a lot of questions! But to truly know Alice: just look at her animals. They're a beautiful reflection of her kindness. They're fun, sweet, gentle and fearless and I miss them a lot. Her place is rustic, so if you're looking for the Ritz, this isn't for you - but I loved it. The view of Kini Bay is incredible and I love how laid back it is. So if you want to soak up an amazing view just a few steps from the sea as 15 cats, one dog and 3 ducks happily wander around their Garden of Eden - this IS for you! Also, a note about Maloo. Maloo just happens to be the sweetest, most unassuming wee dog in the world. Humble, loving, loyal and crazy for belly rubs, I love her a lot. She's great company. She loves a walk, she'll come to the taverna with you for a beer and she'll snuggle and protect you at night. She's just GORGEOUS.

Great sit
I stayed at Alices place for 2 1/2 months in the summer of 2019. I enjoyed bonding with Maloo, a sensitive rescue dog. She is a loyal companion and adores being loved on. We took a early morning and late afternoon walk as it was hot during the day. The many cats asked for short periods of attention but were quite easy to please after we bonded. Alice is in a new cottage since I visited. I know where the new place is, with a beautiful view overlooking Kini Beach. Kini has 6-7 restaurants and a couple of small general stores. The beach is sandy and the swimming was ideal. I would love to return as it was a wonderful sit. Alice was easy to communicate with and I enjoyed getting to know her.
