Mid June stay in Brooklyn, NY with friendly cuddly cat

About this assignment

I have one very friendly and loving cat, he is 14 years old, and I am looking for a reliable and caring person to stay in my apartment and care for him and the apartment while I am away for ten days this coming June. The dates are from June 12th to June 21st, 2025.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Caring for my cat includes feeding him, refilling his water fountain, changing the litter box once about midway through the visit, and giving him lots of attention and affection. He likes to be with people, and will likely sleep on the bed with you, so please be okay with that. I also have a few houseplants which will need watering once during the stay.

What are the good features of the property and location

My apartment is a one bedroom with an eat-in kitchen and large separate living room, located in a lovely pre-war building with an elevator. My neighborhood is residential and pretty quiet at night; the nearest subway station is only a few blocks away, and beautiful Prospect Park and the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens are about a ten minute walk away. Also nearby is the Brooklyn Museum, and there are several supermarkets and many restaurants within walking distance. I have wifi internet and a television with Amazon FireTV, giving access to most streaming services. There is an air conditioner in the bedroom which cools down the entire apartment, as well as ceiling fans in the bedroom and living room.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

This is an unpaid position. Heat, hot water, electric, and wifi internet are all included at no cost to the sitter. Cat food, litter, and other supplies for my cat will all be provided. Veterinarian and animal emergency care information will also be provided. There is ample public transportation and you will not need a car; if you do have a car, there is street parking available, you just need to be mindful of street cleaning regulations on alternate days. I ask that during your stay there should be no overnight guests, and absolutely no parties or events held on the property.
