Hello! Thank you for checking out my listing!
We are trying to find a sitter who is patient with animals and just wants a quiet Christmas in a remote villiage.
When I say remote, I mean remote. It can only be accessed by bush plane and Amazon takes 2 to 3 weeks. There is a shop, but it's small and expensive.
However, if you've always dreamed of an Alaska adventure, this is as much of one as you can hope for.
There is not a lot. Just keep the house not a nightmare and care for the pets. You will need to order food and it takes a day or two.
It's quiet. So quiet. The house is comfortable. And the mattress is nice. Its a 2 bedroom house with one queen sized bed and one twin. I think three people would be comfortable if you wanted to bring people.
We have all the normal house appliances. There isn't a dishwasher, but we do have a sink.
There is running water, but its refilled into a tank. You have to ask the maintenance guy to refil it. You will need to conserve water. So take very short showers, but not every day. I use body wipes a lot.
The toilet is a composting toilet, so it is a learning curve. But its not as gross as one might think. It's really very civilized.
There will be snow! Lots of snow!
It's also very remote. Its possible to lose power for an hour, but the villiage generator is new, so there shouldn't be any outages other than that.
You will want to make food (shelf stable) Amazon orders about 3 or more weeks before getting here. Then you can order perishables online and it will arrive 1 to 3 days after ordering.
Believe it or not, you could also just live on shelf stable Amazon food. You can buy beans, rice, oil, spam, kimchi, cereal bars or whatever if you didn't want to bother ordering groceries from Bethel.
There is a shop, but its small and expensive.
You'll have to fly into Bethel, Alaska and then take a bush plane to Mertarvik. Flight delays are common, so plan to be here 2 or 3 days before we leave.
When I say adventure, I'm not joking.
No, sorry.
