Hello! I am looking for someone to stay with my 10-year old English bulldog, Moose. He is very low maintenance and mostly naps, snacks, and sunbathes. My dates are slightly flexible give or take a day. If you're interested, it would be great if we can have a brief Zoom call to meet and chat.
Moose will need to be fed twice a day; at 7:30/8 am and 3 pm. He takes some supplements with his food. He just eats them, they are not a big deal to give. He wants to go out first thing, around 7:30/8 am. You can just let him outside, the yard is fenced. Then he goes back down for a nap. Mid-morning he's ready to go out into the yard and start sunbathing. There is a blanket to lay down for him. He usually spends most of the day out there and then comes in for his meal at 3 and then takes another big nap. His schedule may vary with someone different around, but that gives you an idea of what his normal day is like. He loves pillows, blankets, and soft things to be arranged in different ways to make cozy nap nests. And he likes to be talked to sweetly and told how beautiful he is! Other than hanging out with Moose, there are no other responsibilities.
My yard is fully fenced in. The backyard is full of young and older fruit trees, raspberries, and two garden beds. There is a comfy hammock and shade umbrella. There is also a large covered patio with table and chairs. Inside is light and bright with fast wi-fi for working from home. I'm in the Portsmouth neighborhood, a short bike ride away from St. John's downtown. There is a New Seasons grocery store, a bar, a park, and a bookstore within very easy walking distance. My neighborhood is quiet and my street is a dead end.
The room with the green couch in the photos is the guest room. The green couch folds down into a bed and there is a bamboo mattress topper for it. Moose sleeps in my bedroom. If you'd like to sleep in the bedroom with him that is an option we could discuss.
Moose doesn't get along with other dogs. That shouldn't be a problem since the yard is fenced and you don't need to walk him, but just giving a heads up. One of his paws is deformed and he doesn't like for it to be touched. Also, he can sometimes react to someone picking something up off the floor in front of him, so I would avoid that. It's not likely to be an issue but again just giving a heads up. He gets overly excited when meeting someone new, but calms down shortly after. He has been beloved by all who have sat for him in the past.
No, sorry.
