About this assignment
I need someone who can appreciate a rural Colorado location with all house amenities and beautiful, antique furniture. We are only 8 miles from town but have 6 acres of solitude and beautiful forest views. The house sitter must be careful with family furniture, loving towards the two dogs and be willing to treat my home as carefully as they would their own.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
Dog feeding and letting out. We have two rescues who are love magnets and can never get enough. There will be some plant watering, both inside and out, depending on the time of year.
What are the good features of the property and location
My home has terrific forest views, is peaceful and quiet at the end of a county road in rural Colorado. The open living room dining room setting is bright and warm. The kitchen has all modern appliances in good working order. There is a bathtub, with a view, upstairs by the master and a shower/tub downstairs. Mountain bike and hiking trails abound in this area.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
You must be dog people and have a car as there is no mass transit out to my house. Also, you need to be alright with solitude at night with perhaps forest creatures outside - bears are common in our apple orchard below the house but rarely come by the house.

Martha’s home is nestled in the mountains just a quick drive from Durango, CO. Some of the nearby features include an active creek and hiking galore. Great and friendly neighbors and a very quiet street adds to desirability of this Housesit engagement. We particularly fell in love with the two pets who entertained us as we entertained them. The remoteness of the home provided glimpses of wildlife including red fox, deer, turkeys and bears (from a distance). The pets are so special, each in its own way. The elderly dog, Pip, is the sweetest and gentlest dog we have been with in quite a while. She also knew how to get along with the second dog, Moses, a one year old Kelpie mix that just wants to play. It was fun to take Moses on hikes and watch him run around. They played with each other most of the day and were ready to wind down in the evenings…just a pleasure to be around. Even though the location is a bit remote, you are within a short distance to a small store and only about 6 miles to a Kroger (City Market) Store. With road side vegetable stands along the roadway, groceries are not an issue and some of the freshest vegetables you can get. Really convenient. Martha is the best to work with and helpful if there are questions. This is the first time we’ve met Martha, but feel like we have been long time friends. We would love to return if our schedules work out. A ???????????????????????????????????????? housesitting engagement .

Nice and quiet, serene and peaceful place with beautiful surroundings. Great place to lounge on large deck and read. Wildlife visited the apple orchard often offering view from deck. Communicated well and left good notes.
