Quiet Farm Cabin near Douglas Lake

About this assignment

I'm looking for someone who is comfortable with animals and who is responsible, dependable, and independent. I'd prefer someone who has had experience with chicks, but it is not a necessity. It will also help to have patience, as our 7-month-old mini-Aussie is quite energetic.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

We have chickens and chicks, as well as two dogs and two cats and a small aquarium. The responsibilities will be giving the animals food and water each day and feeding the fish once per day. The sitter will also collect eggs everyday and let the dogs in/out at least 3-4 times per day. The youngest dog will be crated at night or whenever the sitter is not in the house.

What are the good features of the property and location

The house has a great location. It is next to Douglas Lake and has a view of the Smoky Mountains off the backporch. The front yard is surrounded by trees with birds singing throughout the day. There is also a fire pit and hammock outside. We also have a pool with a nice deck that the sitter is welcome to use. Inside, the sitter will have their own bedroom with desk and will have access to the kitchen, living room, a small movie theater, and a room with a pool table. They are also welcome to read any of the books from our mini-library. The house is set up with Wi-Fi on a good network. The kitchen is complete with an oven, air fryer, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator and freezer. Washer and dryer are on-site. The house is a 30-45 minute drive from all of the tourist attractions in Pigeon Forge and it is also 30-45 minutes from Knoxville, so there is plenty to do.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Being able to provide your own transportation is necessary, as there are no stores within walking distance. Most amenities can be found within a 15-30 minute drive. You should be comfortable around animals. I think house sitting here is ideal for someone who wants to spend quiet days next to the pool or alternatively, someone who wants to visit Pigeon Forge but not be submerged in the tourism 24/7.
