We are looking for a caring, reliable pet lover who will enjoy spending time with our animals and making them feel comfortable while we're away. Our dogs are used to having people around during the day since we work from home, so we'd love a sitter who can provide companionship, affection, and daily walks. We appreciate good communication and occasional updates, but most importantly, we want someone who will treat our pets as if they were their own.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

The primary responsibility will be caring for our two dogs and two cats. This includes feeding them, taking the dogs for daily walks, providing companionship, and maintaining their normal routines. The cats are allowed outside during the day and should be brought inside each evening before bedtime. We'd also appreciate collecting mail/packages if needed, keeping the house tidy, and sending occasional updates and photos while we're away.

We live in a charming mid-century 2-bedroom, 1-bath home built in 1950. While we've made it comfortable and cozy, much of the home's original character remains. If you're looking for a dishwasher, this is probably not the house for you! If, however, you appreciate vintage charm, unique character, and a home that feels lived in rather than perfectly modernized, you'll likely feel right at home here.

The house is located just three blocks from Historic Folsom and Sutter Street, making it easy to walk to coffee shops, restaurants, boutiques, and local events. We also have excellent access to trails, the American River, and outdoor recreation right from the neighborhood.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Our pets are friendly, affectionate, and generally easygoing, but they are used to having people around throughout the day since we work from home. The dogs will need daily walks, companionship, and plenty of attention. While they are sweet and well-loved, they can be reactive to other dogs while on leash, so we're looking for a sitter who is comfortable handling spirited dogs and can provide a little extra confidence and muscle on walks if needed. They are both mutts, but we suspect some herding breed in both.

Our cats are also friendly and enjoy attention, although each has their own personality. They spend time outdoors during the day and need to be brought inside each evening before bedtime. We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys animals, is comfortable staying in our home for the duration of the sit, and will help maintain our pets' routines while we're away. Experience caring for both dogs and cats is preferred.
