We are looking for a reliable, animal-loving house sitter (or couple) who is comfortable with rural living and can provide consistent daily care for our pets while we are away for approximately one month (early February to early March).
This sit is best suited for someone who:
Enjoys quiet, rural environments with a lot of privacy
Is comfortable being somewhat remote and driving for errands
Is willing and able to manage a wood stove (with guidance and support)
Is comfortable with dogs that are affectionate and accustomed to sleeping in the bed
Respects a smoke-free, drug-free home (*We prefer NON SMOKERS!)
Primary responsibilities include:
Daily care for three dogs and one cat, including feeding, letting dogs outside, companionship, and general oversight
Watering a small number of house plants
Maintaining the home during the sit, including:
Using the wood stove as the primary heat source, with supplemental propane as needed
Basic tidying and general care of the property
We would ideally like the sitter to arrive before we leave so we can walk through the house, pet routines, and heating system in person. We also have instructional videos and nearby family support if needed..
Our home is a ranch-style house in Adams County, Ohio, a very rural area known for rolling hills, wooded land, farms, and nearby state nature preserves. It is extremely quiet and private, with no visible neighbors.
The sitter will have:
A private bedroom with a queen bed
Access to a large garden tub
An outdoor cold plunge pool
A Fire Stick for streaming
A basic home gym with a weight rack, barbell, and free weights
Internet and standard household utilities
For additional peace of mind, my husband’s parents live up the hill and are available if assistance is ever needed.
Please consider the following carefully before applying:
This is a very rural location with no walkable amenities and no visible neighbors
Comfort with wood-stove heating is important, especially in winter
Two of the dogs will likely expect to sleep in the bed with you
Wildlife sights and sounds are normal
This sit is better suited to someone who enjoys solitude and a slower pace of life
If this setup sounds like a good fit for you, we would be happy to share additional details and answer any questions..
No, sorry.
