We are Looking for a clean, responsible, non-smoking, dog loving person or couple to care for our dogs, plants and home as if it were their own from June 19 to July 22nd 2026

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Feed dogs morning and afternoon meals and walk dogs on a daily basis. Also clean back yard of dog waste when needed, as well as water plants,check mail and take out garbage weekly. We have MANY house plants that we will leave a watering schedule for. We ask our guests to please clean up after yourself and leave the home as you found it.

What are the good features of the property and location

We have a 2 story home located in a quiet neighborhood overlooking the Glen Cove Marina, close to hiking trails, with beautiful views of the bay, Benicia State Park, and a public transportation stop. Vallejo is located in the San Francisco Bay Area on the northeastern shore of San Pablo Bay and is home to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom theme park, Mare Island heritage preserve and the Glen Cove Light House. We are approximately 30 miles from downtown San Francisco to the south and 20 miles from downtown Napa to the north. The Bay link ferry to San Francisco is just 4 miles away and easy to get to by bus. The ferry will get you to downtown San Francisco in an hour, or you can choose to drive, or take our public transportation (BART) to Berkeley, Oakland, Walnut Creek, or San Francisco.

Vallejo has a wonderful downtown 4 miles from our home with coffee shops, artist’s community, and food of all types. On Saturdays the downtown closes the street for a great Farmer’s market, and almost every weekend throughout the summer there are some sort of festivities, including the Pirate Festival, Juneteenth Celebration, and Independence Day Parade, Blues and & Grooves Festival and fireworks (including Vallejo’s one of a kind bathtub regatta).

Our home is just over 1 mile away from a small shopping center with a Safeway grocery, sushi, pizza, and breakfast restaurants. Cal Poly Maritime Academy, is also a short drive away.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Our dogs Lucy and Ethel are 7 lb Shipoo mixes. They are rescue dogs and can be a little shy around strangers, especially men at first. But they are quick to warm up to people who offer treats and walks. Once they get to know a person they love to hang out on the couch and get belly rubs, or just be near their people. They sleep together in a crate at night and sleep best in a room with people. When people are home the dogs have free range of the house and yard with a doggy door. When left alone they are penned in a kennel with doggy door access. We also have many house plants that we will leave a weekly watering schedule for.

There is hi-speed Wi-Fi Internet and cable tv will be available. Please note that there are stairs to the entrance of the home and to the second story where the bedrooms are located. You will stay in the guest bedroom, which has a queen bed, dresser, tv, and closet. The house has air conditioning, but because we are close to the water it cools down most afternoons/nights. We have a small no maintenance back yard with dinning table and lounge chairs and umbrellas for hanging out and watching birds splash in the fountain.
