We are looking for an experienced house sitter, person or couple, who will look after our home and our pets as if their own. They must be mature, responsible, experienced, patient and committed.
The main responsibility will be caring for our lovely Lurcher Rudy (age 6) who needs 1-2 walks a day. He has a dog walker 2 mornings a week. Our shy cat Buddy (age 15) will be very nervous at first, but will hopefully warm to you. The house-sitters should also be clean and tidy.
Our 4 storey Victorian terrace is in a great location if we do say so ourselves! We absolutely love Hastings and think you will too!
We are a 1 minute walk to the beautiful Alexandra Park, 10 minutes to Pelham beach, 15 minute walk to Hastings Old Town, Rock a Nore and the Stade. Hastings pier is only half a mile away and hosts weekly music events. Loads of lovely places to eat, including a pub at the end of the road that serves craft beer and wood-fired pizza. We are also only a mile and a half from St Leonard’s on Sea.
Trains to Brighton are 1.5 hours and London is 1.5-2 hours away.
There are many beautiful places to walk and visit including Hastings country park, Rye Nature Reserve, Guestling Woods and historic Battle Abbey (from the battle of Hastings in 1066).
You will have your own bedroom and use of the house and garden.
The supermarket (Morrison’s) is a 5 min walk and we are a 10 min walk to the shopping centre with a selection of shops including Boots, Marks and Spencer, the Post Office, banks and more. There is a weekly market on Thursday.
We have lived here for 8 years now and bought the house as a project. It’s a comfortable and cosy home. But we are in the process of refurbishment, so there are some parts of the house that might be out of bounds.
The garden is a sun trap and perfect for a BBQ.
The main responsibility will be caring for our lovely dog Rudy, he’s a 6 year old lurcher and will need 1-2 walks per day and should not be left alone for long periods (nothing over 2 hours).
After a previous bad experience with a house sitter Rudy will need extra love, fuss and patience for the first few nights.
But he will settle.
Having a car would be beneficial, but not essential.
PLEASE NOTE: The house has a lot of stairs.
We have a friendly dog walker who does Thursday and Friday mornings and a cleaner that comes once per week.
The phone reception can be intermittent, so you will need to be confident and experienced house sitters that can handle all situations.
No, sorry.
Testimonials
My husband and I had a fantastic time with Rudy and Buddy
Nicky and Toby and their family were wonderful! Nicky left great instructions for us and we arrived a day early to get to know the pets with their family still in the home and even after the family left for holiday, Nicky and Toby kept in touch and responded promptly to any issues we had. Rudy is such a sweet, silly boy and kept us on our toes and was just so much fun. Buddy is a sweet old man who just enjoys cuddles and we're so glad we decided to pet sit for our holiday.

Nicky left very good instructions, dog was well behaved and easy to look after. Fantastic walking area for beach's & Parks also good for car parking which was very useful. Excellent sitting area outside when weather permits. Lovely family and look forward to visiting again.
