About this assignment

We travel about 50% of the year, both within the U.S. and internationally, leading workshops and retreats focused on meditation, mindfulness, massage, breathwork, and sound healing

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

We are looking for house sitters who offer a seamless transition for us and our pets while following their routines. We have a shared Google Doc with all the details you’ll need about Milo, Jackson, Lucy, the house, the neighborhood, emergency contacts, and our travel plans.

Your main responsibility will be to lovingly care for our dog, Milo, who is 12 years old, and our two cats, Jackson and Lucy, who are both 5=6. Jackson was rescued from a neighborhood tree, and Lucy came from a local pet foster called "Naughty Cat Cafe." Milo, a 45 lb. rescue from Guatemala, has a mix of greyhound and Dutch Shepherd traits and a striking brindle coat. He’s a well-trained, sweet dog who responds to commands like “this way,” “let’s go,” “two paws” (a high five), and “leave it”. He sleeps in his own bed on the floor and is not allowed on furniture.

Milo is great on a leash and should always be walked on one. There’s a dog park nearby and plenty of trails for hiking, though neighborhood walks are also fine. He enjoys car rides, and we’ll provide a seat cover for his trips with you. He needs at least one walk every morning after breakfast.

Milo, Jackson, and Lucy are very compatible. Lucy loves full-body rubs but isn’t a cuddler, while Jackson will happily snuggle in your lap when you’re at the computer or watching TV. They might join you at the foot of the bed, but they don’t usually sleep in the bed.

What are the good features of the property and location

We live in the beautiful small southern city of Chattanooga, Tennessee where there are 70 hiking trail heads within a 30 mile radius of our home + water activities are abundant along the Tennessee River. Chattanooga also boasts some of the best internet in the world with a fiber optic network allowing for robust speeds (we have a basic plan that gives us 300mb download on speed tests). We have a dedicated home office so this housesit is great if you work from home.

Our home is a completely renovated peaceful and light-filled 1965 ranch with easy access to downtown, grocery stores, etc. Our house is comfortable and your guest room has a King bed, your own bathroom with tub and shower. Fully appointed kitchen. Beautiful newly built screened porch.

Chattanooga is 2 hours from Nashville, 2 hours from Atlanta.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

As long-time homeowners on housesitting platforms, we take pride in creating a comfortable and welcoming environment in our home with our pets. You’ll receive a detailed home and pet guide, a home-cooked meal tailored to your dietary needs upon arrival, a cozy guest room with fresh linens, ample space for your belongings, and your own private bathroom. If you work remotely, we also offer a dedicated office along with several other comfortable spots throughout the house to work.

We typically travel for periods ranging from one to six weeks and are seeking experienced, thoughtful sitters to care for our beloved dog and cats while we’re away. Milo, Jackson, and Lucy are a wonderful little crew and have received glowing reviews from previous sitters.

We need someone who is absolutely reliable and communicates about the pets’ well-being. Since we work from home and are around a lot, our pets are accustomed to having company.

No yard work or house chores are necessary other than watering plants and keeping the house tidy for our return.

When you respond to this opportunity, please provide a detailed introduction. We’d love to get to know you better to ensure it’s a great match!

Can I bring my own pets?

No, sorry.

This pet sit is a wonderful opportunity

This was a repeat pet sit for me, so that alone tells you something. Tracey and Sharon are very good hosts, and they were kind enough to cook me dinner the night before they left. They are both very down-to-earth, genuinely nice people. Their lovely home is located in a small town outside Chattanooga where you'll find all the stores you need close by, and the neighborhood is very quiet. I was comfortable in my own room with my own bathroom, and I had lots of closet space along with a dresser. Milo is a very chill and low maintenance aging dog. He enjoyed riding in the car and going for short walks. In the house, he watches out his window, and he lazes around. He's always up for mealtime, and he has a healthier diet than most humans. He sleeps through the night in his own bed, under his own blanket - so cute. Jackson is a beautiful orange cat, and his favorite thing was to hang out on the enormous screened in porch on the backside of the house watching all of the bird and squirrel activity. He also loved playing with the cat wand. The porch looks out at woods, not houses - nice! Lucy is the ambassador feline of the pet household. She will greet you at the door with no reservations. She'll keep you on schedule for all meals and snacks, and she will always be happy to see you when you return from an outing. She and Milo have a special bond, but she also will wrestle and play chase with Jackson. This pet sit is a wonderful opportunity and I highly recommend it. You'll have no regrets. I look forward to returning.

We hope to come back some day

We very much enjoyed caring Tracey and Sharon's pets in their comfortable Chattanooga home. From the moment were collected from our downtown hotel by Tracey we felt welcome. We had a lovely first night we enjoying a scrumptious meal prepared by Sharon, meeting the Three Characters-Milo the happy dog and Jackson and Lucy the funny and loving cats, learning their routines. Milo and Lucy were our almost immediate fast friends and while it took Jackson a couple of days to come around, when he did he became the most affectionate of all. The house is very comfortable and well thought out, and when it was too cold to hang out on the screened in catio out back, with the touch of a remote button we were enjoying a gas fire in the living room. The kitchen is well-equipped and there are numerous supermarkets nearby so this petsit is ideal for people like us who like to cook at home. That being said, there are also numerous excellent restaurants nearby and in town. The highlight of the petsit for us were the daily walks with Milo. Though he's fine with a spin around the neighborhood, he seems to enjoy trail hikes a bit more and it was a real pleasure driving with him out to the numerous nearby parks for morning hikes. What a dear fellow he is! And the cats stayed busy amusing us with wrestling matches, chasing each other around the house and playing with their toys and other objects. This was an all around fivestar sit-the pets were a joy, Tracey and Sharon were gracious hosts, the house was quite comfortable and the area fun to explore. It was a great two weeks and we hope we can come back someday.

Many thanks

Many thanks to Sharon and Tracey for allowing me to stay in their beautifully renovated ranch to take care of Milo, Jackson, and Lucy. Being seasoned extensive travelers, Tracey and Sharon have a super detailed Google Doc serving as their instruction booklet / Welcome Guide, labels on regularly-used food and supplement containers, and an overall lovely, easy-to-live (and workout) in single story home. Although Milo was on full alert when I arrived the evening before their early morning departure, lotsa cut up chicken jerky treats from me and reassurances from his Mommas found Mi' settling down and accepting my presence, allowing the gals to leave as planned. 👍🏻 Both sensitive to his surroundings, (including the weather) and, perhaps, slowing down as a result of his age and/or leg issue, Milo only wanted to walk on a few days, opting instead for quick bursts of running and barking out back then chillin' on his various beds, covered in the evenings with 1 of his 2 favorite b'ankies. 🥰 A mostly quiet, slightly hilly area, it was odd, and somewhat off-putting, at first, to find that there were no sidewalks incorporated into the design of this mid-century development. Having to walk Milo on the side of the roads, against the flow of traffic most often, had me hearkening back to m'childhood days in then-rural Avon Lake, OH; I'm certainly glad that Mi'-Mi' knew his route(s), where we were going. Given the pets' feeding schedule, (5 different times throughout the day, with 2 shared by the pup and kitties), as well as Milo's seemingly less-than-comfortable vibe, it felt most appropriate for me not to disrupt his routine in any way so I rarely left the house without him during my stay. The younger Jackson and Lucy, in contrast, are both quite affectionate and active, making ribbon toy playing and miscellaneous sparkle ball, plastic coil, or spider plushie flipping and chasing a joy to experience. Being kept warm and head-butted by Jackson as he crawls onto your chest are indeed more welcome bonuses for any sitter fortunate enough to be chosen by Tracey and Sharon to help out next time they travel again. 😻

I had the best time

I had the best time sitting for Tracey and Sharon and their pet crew - Milo, Lucy and Jackson! We spoke/emailed in the days before the trip to make sure all my questions were answered, and Tracey picked me up at the airport to have dinner at their house before they departed. Their home is a clean, cozy one in a beautiful neighborhood just minutes from Chatt. I slept GREAT each night in the guest room and was able to work remotely from their office. The real stars (obviously) were their sweet pets. Walks/rides with Milo were a breeze and caring for Lucy and Jackson was both easy and hilarious! Each pet definitely has their own routine going on, so was amazed at how everyone got along and played with each other - so fun to watch. Can't say enough about Tracey and Sharon. They went above and beyond as hosts and I'd highly recommend connecting with them as a sitter. I hope our paths cross again for future trips.

Another 5-star sit

Another 5-star sit with Milo, Lucy and Jackson. I always enjoy spending time with these guys. They are so easy to care for, and fun to be around. Tracey and Sharon are very generous, and communication with them is so easy. I had some questions this time, and they responded to me very quickly. Thank you Tracey and Sharon for all your kindness and hospitality!

Another great sit

This was our second time hanging out with Milo, Lucy, and Jackson. We enjoyed this sit just as much as our first! Tracey and Sharon are so kind and welcoming. Their house is very comfortable and has everything needed to take great care of their fur babies. Their welcome guide is very thorough and helpful. Milo is such a joy to hang out with. He is so chill and sweet. He enjoyed riding in the car to the dog park and then sniffing and checking things out at the park. Tucking him in every night is just too cute!! Lucy is a very loving cat who is not shy about coming to see you for attention. She is very in tune with her feeding schedule and loves to remind you it is time for her to eat! Jackson stays to himself a bit more, but when he comes around for pets and snuggles, it is extra special! He will come out and lay on you and purr. I took a few naps with him purring away on my chest. We spent every morning hanging out on the catio with the fur babies, only heading inside because it got too hot outside. Thank you, Sharon and Tracey, for another great sit with your awesome fur babies!

Another 5-star sit with Milo

Another 5-star sit with Milo, Lucy and Jackson! Tracey and Sharon's generosity and kindness is unmatched! They are so easy to communicate with, as they were always prompt with responses when I had questions. And their home is cozy and peaceful. The back screen porch is a little sanctuary. I really enjoy the 3 furry babies. Milo is such a sweet boy and easygoing. Lucy is the queen of the house, and she lets nothing bother her. She’s adorable. Jackson is such a gentle soul. It was always a special time when he wanted to snuggle and nap on my belly. If you have an opportunity to get to Chattanooga, I would highly recommend this sit! I’ve always enjoyed my time here. Thank you, Tracey and Sharon!

Met all of my expectations

This five-day pet sit met all of my expectations, and then some. I was greeted at the door by the whole family, and, it was clear right away how nice they all are. Tracey and Sharon are warm and inviting, and they are great hosts. Milo, Lucy, and Jackson are sweet, loving, and well-loved pets. We had a delicious home cooked dinner while we got acquainted. On my first day, Lucy demonstrated her skills as the ambassador of this kingdom. She's a beautiful tabby cat with obvious love for her cat, Jackson, and her dog, Milo. She's not much of a lap cat, but she loves to be petted and to play. Jackson is a tall, orange, and handsome cat. He sat in my lap and purred from day one. Milo is a very chill dog who does not ask for much attention. He's happy just to get his daily exercise and to have your company. He enjoyed our daily car rides to the Tennessee Riverpark for 30-40 minute walks on the beautiful scenic path. The pets are all good eaters, and it was easy caring for them. The house is lovely, clean, and comfortable, and, it's in a convenient location. Anything you might need is within a couple of miles. I had my own bedroom and my own bathroom, which is always a bonus. All in all, I'd say don't pass up the opportunity to stay here. I loved it, and would definitely come back.

We absolutely loved this pet sit

We absolutely loved this pet sit. The house was very clean, as was our bedroom and bath which were so nice and comfy! Tracey and Sharon were really welcoming and friendly. We enjoyed a fun meal with them the night before they left. Fortunately both ladies enjoy receiving pictures and texts while away, and with pets as sweet natured and adorable as their three, I took a lot! We like all the pets we sit for, but some become just a little more special than others. This was the case with Milo, Lucy and Jackson. Absolutely fell in love with all three very quickly. We look forward to returning to care for those sweeties in the future, and catching up with our new friends Sharon and Tracey! This sit is highly recommended!!!

Went really well

This was our first sit experience; I do not think it could have been a better introduction for us. I’ve been a pet sitter for quite some time but doing it through TH is definitely a different experience. It was helpful that Tracey has done this for quite some time and is a great facilitator. Tracey was home to greet us for a brief transition period before leaving. Milo was a bit unsure of me at first. Tracey suggested it might be that she and Sharon are more soft spoken. So, I tempered my interaction with him and he responded quite quickly — he even ended up giving me kisses within a few hours. Tracey showed us around, gave us helpful hints for Milo, Lucy, Jackson, and their home (all of which were clearly and completely written down for reference as well). It was really hot in Chattanooga so we tried to plan outings with Milo around the heat and humidity. We did something away from home with him daily; he was SO good. I mostly loved that he worried that we (his pack) were nearby when we were out and about. Lucy gave us cuddles and love whenever at home which was quite a bit. Jackson was more distant but quite friendly around feeding times. We loved sharing our experiences, photos, and videos with Tracey and Sharon and hoped they gave them peace of mind while away. Their home was clean and had everything needed for a comfortable stay. The ‘catio’ is a wonderful space with nature right outside to enjoy —and keep the pets interested. We were sorry to miss out on the night-before transition dinner they usually do. We felt safe and the home was close to just about anything we needed or wanted. We’re sure anyone wanting to explore Chattanooga would enjoy this sit.

5 star

It was our pleasure to sit for Milo, Jackson, and Lucy again! As on our previous sit, the pets were fun and affectionate, Tracey and Sharon were excellent hosts, and the accommodations were great! See our previous review as well as all the other excellent reviews that reinforce this is a 5 star sitting opportunity!

We had the best time

We had the best time hanging out with Milo, Lucy, and Jackson!! They are very well-behaved and so much fun. Sharon and Tracey were amazing hosts. Before the sit, they provided us with a very detailed Welcome Guide - it is awesome! We met with them the day before the sit started and they showed us around the house and the fur babies' habits. We also shared a delicious meal and great conversation. Milo is a chill dog who loves to go to the dog parks. He is great with other dogs and enjoys exploring the park. It was super cute tucking him in at night - he loves being covered by a blanket when he sleeps. Lucy loved being wherever we were. She isn't much of a snuggler, but does enjoy pets. She knows her feeding schedule very well and likes to help you remember. Jackson enjoys doing his own thing. You can usually find him chilling on the catio. When we weren't on the catio with him, we would go out and give him some pets. He also knew when it was time to eat and would saunter in to eat. He is a snuggler, so when he came in from the catio, he would come in and hang out on us. We highly recommend this sit! Thank you so much to Tracey and Sharon for giving us this opportunity to hang out with Milo, Lucy, and Jackson.

OMG

OMG! I have been "sitting" for 5 years and this sit was a 6-star "best home / pet sit" I have done. Tracey & Sharon home is exceptional. Very comfortable in all aspects. They have taken time and effort to create an enjoyable, sitter-friendly environment. Milo is a friendly, low-maintenance dog. Took me on 3-5 miles of walking each day. Hill hikes and TN River frontage as well as forested creeks. Behind the home you will see deer, coyotes, squirrels, opossum, chipmunks, and a few dozen bird species. Owls will hoot for you at night. Internet is speedy so if you are WFH you can do so comfortably. Lucy and Jackson are wonderful, entertaining, amusing cats. Lucy warms to you in 10 seconds. Jackson takes an hour to get comfortable with you. During my 5 week stay, there was one of those 25 year spring storms that knocked out electricity for a few days. All of the neighbors were happy and eager to help each other through the ordeal. Chattanooga is a very friendly town with folks that still wave and say Hello with enthusiasm. A sitter can get comfortable instantly! I hope Tracy and Sharon are satisfied with me and invite me back for many more re-sits.

This was such a wonderful sit

This was such a wonderful sit! Tracey and Sharon are both very gracious and generous with their time. We all had a great meal the evening before their departure, and I really enjoyed getting to know them and all the fur-babies during this time. Their Welcome Guide is very detailed, which I appreciated very much. I referred to it often to get ideas of what do to around town, to reminders about behaviors of all the pets and schedules. Communication was easy with Tracey and Sharon. I never had to worry if I had questions, or wanted to share a special moment with them, I knew that they would respond. Tracey and Sharon’s home is very peaceful and comfortable. It has all the amenities you could need or want. I had my own room with bath. The kitchen has everything if you like to cook or bake. I loved to spend time in the screened in porch on warm sunny days. And, of course, Jackson, Lucy and Milo loved being out there as well. Milo is such a sweet gentle soul. He really stole my heart! He loves to go for car rides to the various parks in town for a walk. He also loves to be out on the trails in the woods. My favorite time every day was when I got to tuck him into bed every night. Always made me smile. He is very well behaved and easy to care for. Jackson and Lucy are fun cats! Jackson may take a day or two to warm up, but once he did, he climbed on my lap every day for a snuggle and nap. What’s better than having a purring cat in your lap?! He’s one of the most handsome cats I’ve seen in a very long time. He’s a big cat with even bigger eyes that are stunning. Lucy is very playful! She loves getting attention and pets and is very loving. She never asked to be in my lap, but she was a constant companion. She wanted to play every night, so I’d go around to find all their glitter balls that got under the furniture, and we’d play with the fabric teaser wand. Always entertaining! All the animals were very easy to care for, especially with all the details given by Tracey and Sharon. And the home is cozy and warm. I would highly recommend this sit to anyone! There is so much to do around Chattanooga, you’d never want for something to do. I would love to return. Thank you Tracey and Sharon for such a wonderful stay!

We had a great time

We had a great time watching Milo, Jackson, and Lucy in Chattanooga. We would happily recommend this sit and we would be more than happy to return to it. Tracey and Sharon were splendid hosts. Olivia developed a cold the day of our arrival and, in order to accommodate us while also ensuring their health, they ended up booking a hotel in the area for the night for themselves while letting us settle into their home. They sent us a few instructional videos, showed us the house briefly in person, and left with a dinner prepared in the fridge for us. The welcome guide was extensive and thorough. During our sit, communication with them was always clear and pleasant. The day of their arrival back home, they let us stay an extra night. We shared a very pleasant conversation over dinner before parting ways. Milo, the dog, is a huge sweetheart. From the moment we met him, we was friendly and excitable. He is overall a very quiet dog who enjoys most of his day lounging or sleeping in whichever bed the cats have not occupied. His sleepiness is punctuated by bursts of energy, usually around dinner time. We would go out back with him and run around together until he got tired, which didn't take long. He's incredibly well behaved and caused us no trouble. Sometimes he would be stubborn about not going on walks, if he wouldn't budge we would just bring him back in and walk him later. There are a lot of great parks to take him to only a short drive away and you should because he LOVES going to the park. Overall he is really sweet and a great companion. Lucy is the more affectionate of the two cats. From the moment we stepped through the door, she was rubbing herself against us, asking for pets. She loves attention and getting pet all over. She doesn't mind being handled and it's very easy to pick her up and hold her if she's in the right mood. She's not a huge lap cat but she’s always happy to be getting head scratches by your side. Sometimes she gets agitated by her own tail, usually around meal time. Try distracting her with play (or food if it's time). If food or play doesn't work, we found a sniff of catnip would do the trick to snap her out of it. Jackson is the more aloof of the two cats. At first, he was a little prickly around us. It took only a day before he was happy to be around us. By the last day of our sit, Jackson climbed onto Joe’s lap unprompted. He began baking biscuits on Joe’s chest in an unprecedented act of severe cuteness. Joe was honored. While Lucy’s love and affection was immediate, Jackson’s took more time and felt very earned. He's a funny cat, with a perpetual look of surprise on his face and the demeanor of a teenage boy. He especially loves his “cat television” (bird feeder), although Lucy does too and they can often be found watching together on the screened in porch. The house is clean and cozy. We found it well outfitted with all the supplies we might need for our stay. It is spacious and there was more than enough room for the two of us to work separately. The screened in porch in the back is especially nice on days with good weather. The area around the house is also quite nice. They live in a quiet residential area a minute away from a main road with every kind of store you might need. It's a short drive to the city proper, which we didn't end up going to because there was so much to do closer to home. As mentioned previously, there are some great local parks to take Milo to. We highly recommend Greenway Farms, Stringer’s Ridge, and the Tennessee River Park. There's tons of great hiking in the area within a 30 minute drive. We recommend North Chickamauga Creek Gorge, Snooper’s Rock, and Lookout Mountain. Milo can be walked for an hour or so before he gets tired and politely requests to head back home. When we wanted to go hiking on a trail that might be too long or intense for him, we would take him for a nice walk at a nearby park, drop him off at home, and then go hiking. He can be left home alone for 4 hours so plan accordingly. Overall, we had a great time in Chattanooga and we wish we could have more time to spend with Tracey and Sharon’s menagerie. We wish them the best and we absolutely recommend this sit to anyone who would take good care of Milo, Jackson, and Lucy.

What a fantastic sit

What a fantastic sit! Tracey and Sharon were wonderfully detailed and Milo, Jackson and Lucy were a pleasure to spend time with! It is a great area close to everything and one of the best parts was taking Milo down to River Park to walk along the water. I am so grateful for my time in Hixson and highly recommend this sit because I enjoyed myself very much and the animals were perfectly behaved!!

I can't say enough good things

I can't say enough good things about sitting for Tracey and Sharon's crew. Lucy, Jackson, and Milo are all sweet, gentle, and kind animals who like to relax and chill all day! They all get along well, too. I really had the best time hanging out with them. Milo was a great leader on our morning walks, he's a pleasure to walk with. The house is so comfortable with a cozy fireplace, great office to work in, an awesome king sized bed, excellent kitchen appliances, and the most beautiful screened in porch. There is a great juice/smoothie place about a ten minute drive from the house and many other shops/gyms just minutes away. I'm so happy to have met Tracey and Sharon and would sit for them again, any time.

A lovely family

It is always a pleasure to return to Tracey and Sharon's home. Fantastic King bed, ample closet and drawer space. Everything is clean and comfortable. After working at our computers for hours, we relaxed and read on the enclosed porch while Milo, Jackson and Lucy entertained us! Ideal location, close proximity to downtown, riverfront and many walking trails. Nearby shopping and restaurants make both dining in or out effortless. We are always grateful when asked to return! They are such a lovely family we enjoy spending time over a meal when schedules permit.

Many reasons to return

Milo & Jackson were a delight during my three stays with them! Milo joined me on hiking trails several times during my week-long stay, was a calm shotgun rider, and was quiet as a mouse sleeping in the same room with me each night. After a particularly long hike one day, he took himself to bed at 7PM. He’s smart, a good watch dog, and will always let you know what he needs. Jackson was very playful, when he wasn’t busy surveying his domain from the screened patio. I joined him on the patio after sunset each evening, watching the fireflies in “his” woods behind the house. Meal times were particularly entertaining—during meal prep, Milo & Jackson would get playful with each other in their excitement, while waiting for me to signal that it’s time to eat. Lucy joined the mix on my 3rd stay, and she blended well with Milo & Jackson. She still has kitten energy...she adores Milo, plays with Jackson at every opportunity, and wants your human affection, too. As for the trio's humans, Tracey and Sharon keep a lovely home, very comfortable, light, and airy, with a well-equipped kitchen. Their neighborhood is only minutes from downtown Chattanooga. Sharon cooked a delicious meal the first night, to show me the ropes and allow Milo to adjust to my presence. Everything was spelled out in writing, shared with me in advance, and communicated clearly in person. The three of us kept in touch once a day, and all proceeded smoothly. But when Milo's humans return from their trips, their car banking up the driveway, Milo’s guard-dog bark turned into high-pitched squeals of canine joy! (I didn’t take it personally. ??) I highly recommend Tracey & Sharon, and their fur family of three. You won't regret your time here!
