About this assignment

A responsible, independent horse and cat lover who will take care of our animals and home as if it were their own. Someone who enjoys the outdoors, has a good, basic knowledge of equine health issues and loves a comfortable, modern home would be ideal!

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Ensure my four well-behaved horses have hay &/or access to pasture, and have water at all times. Keep my lovely, very affectionate cat company and care for him. Horses require a minimum of 1x per day visual check to ensure they are healthy. Work is very minimal as the farm is set up very well for low-maintenance and for ease of feeding for the horses. We would fill round-bale feeders before leaving on our vacation so no daily hay should be required. Garden may need a bit of care but we have automatic watering systems so that's minimal

What are the good features of the property and location

My home, brand new in late 2019 has many luxury features. A comfortable, warm home with heated floors in several rooms, gas fireplace, automatic back-up generator system in the case of a power outage, modern kitchen with granite countertops and brand-new appliances, it is a lovely haven in the winter. Animal care is very easy with feeding possible from outside the pens. The property (62.5 acres) is beautiful and suitable for snowshoeing and cross country skiing. Only 10 minutes from the town of 100 Mile House, the farm is gated for security, and surrounded by friendly, helpful neighbours.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

You must be knowledgeable about horses and be able to recognize injuries and illnesses and take appropriate action. You must have your own transportation as there is no public transit in the area and we live approximately 15 minutes from town

Can I bring my own pets?

Yes
Restrictions: Very well behaved dogs with proven track record of not chasing or attacking cats, horses or wildlife
