Responsible, patient, & tidy are three key words to describe someone who we'd like to stay in our home and care for our family members.
Feed cats 2 meals a day. Litter box checks once a day, actually scooped every 2-3 days. There are also a few plants that may need checked and watered.
Safe and quiet neighborhood, plenty of parking, close proximity to Baltimore, Columbia, Ellicott City, etc. A short walk to a running track/soccer/football field, tennis courts, & state park (Potapsco). Five minutes to Guinness and same to shops/dining of downtown Catonsville. There's a deck facing a small preserve in rear of home, plus a coffee grinder and several brewing methods available.
Cats don't always seem social but they need a person around or they'll feel abandoned. Both love company once trust is established, but Fergus especially is a huge cuddle bug but also needs more food and attention than a typical adult cat. We want a responsible, attentive person(s) with references available. You're going to love staying here, so we need to make sure we've made the right choice for our pets and property.
Though I didn't meet Mike or Ellen in person due to the timing of our travel plans, they left clear, detailed instructions and were great about responding to texts for any questions or additional info. Their townhouse is lovely, in a quiet area near the university and some great walking trails. Joey is a super sweet cat, playful, talkative, and a cuddly companion while also doing his own thing. All in all, a fantastic house sitting experience!
This was a fantastic home/cat sit! Sofi is a sweetie who likes to take her time warming up but never wants to be too far away. Joey is a cutie who will approach often and loves attention. They are both very easy to care for. The house is very comfortable and clean and well labeled for ease of finding things. I picked the master bedroom/en suite for the firmer mattress and it felt luxurious. The location is great: easy to find, close to town, quiet and safe, pretty backyard area overlooked by the back deck, and the best (in my opinion) is the huge state park across the street. I spent hours hiking and biking there and didn’t even do all the trails in the one of 5-6 sections accessible from the house. I also loved the BWI and B and A bike paths that were only a 15 minute drive away. Michael was easy to communicate with and the notes left at the house made it easy to orient myself quickly. I had a great time, was sad to say goodbye to the cats, and would recommend this assignment to anyone.
Mike has a lovely home in a great location - safe, lots of room, fantastic accommodations - he communicated well and has two wonderful cats that are easy to look after. He was well prepared when we arrived with cue cards to reference complete with instructions on most anything you might need to know. We were given the master bedroom with king size bed and ensuite to stay in. The area has lots of hiking trails that we took advantage of and really enjoyed. It is a short drive to whatever you need ie. grocery, restaurants etc and easy access to the major highways. It was a pleasure to house sit for them and I would recommend them without hesitation.
