Rocky and Podi eat cooked food and are not very picky (as long as it isn't salad or green beens). They do not have any health conditions and live outside the house in their own quarters, but mostly roam freely in the garden.

About this assignment
We are looking for a trustworthy person / couple to look after our dogs “Rocky” & "Podi" and our house. You should love animals and be a hands-on person. If you are a “jack of all trades“. If you enjoy time the beach, gardening, sunshine, animals and a bit of spicy food you will love your stay here.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
About 10-20hrs per week. Look after our darling dogs, look after our house (the proximity to the ocean is challenging), coordinate workers if any have to come round, keep us updated what’s going on. We welcome if you are hands-on and appreciate any help. There is a caretaker who lives on-site and who will do most of the cleaning and gardening, but he still needs some guidance.
What are the good features of the property and location
It’s directly by the beach. A little place in paradise. Great ocean views. Good Wifi connection. Swimming pool. Bus stop close to property (to go to Colombo or Galle). Famous tourist town just 5min away. Fresh fruits and vegetables in neighbourhood. Of course will have your own room and bathroom. Our wifi connection is available for your use to study / work or play. You will love the place.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
Need to do some house work / gardening. We would like you to stay with minimum 3 months.
Visa is required for Sri Lanka, but can be issued on arrival or beforehand online.
Can I bring my own pets?

Sri Lankan paradise
Well I have just completed a three month house sit at Anja’s stunning little bit of Sri Lankan paradise. What can I say, absolutely glorious. Imposing villa overlooking the sea amongst the coconut trees, listening to the waves crashing onto the rocks, some really stunning sunsets. Cool beer on the high terrace watching it. The people are fantastic, so friendly and always a ready smile. The villa is in the middle of two towns, Hikkaduwa and Ambalongada. Hikkaduwa is great for restaurants, ending up on the beach, literally while having your meal. Good for shops as well. In Ambalongada also shops, but also if you are inclined, a gym; Power fit fitness in Ambalangoda. Great gym with great staff, and very very reasonable, well recommended. I would also recommend renting a scooter for your stay. There are plenty of buses but it’s nice to have your own transportation, even riding to Colombo to renew my driving permit, that was an adventure!! Now onto the main reason why you are there, Podi and Rocky. A great pair of characters, especially Rocky when out for the morning walk, does like to announce his presence with the other dogs!! Podi does not have the same enthusiasm, but they are both really friendly lovely dogs and I will seriously miss them. Communication with Anja is great, regular calls and updates and lots of advice. Any issues there is always Eranga, the caretaker. I really appreciate Anja giving me the opportunity to house sit and experience this wonderful Island and it’s amazing people. I will seriously miss the place, the people and of course the dogs, and would happily endure it again.

Sweetest dogs in paradise
Rocky and Podi are the sweetest dogs you could wish for. They are very well behaved, incredibly affectionate, and always up for cuddles. We absolutely adored them. Communication with Anja was wonderful. She is very flexible and supportive, kindly allowing us to travel on multiple occasions and arranging a great rate for our friends and family when they stayed with us. The house and dogs do require some care from time to time, but that is exactly what a house sit is about. The location is fantastic. Hikkaduwa is close enough for great coffee spots, surfing, and lovely hangouts, while the house itself is in a local village where you truly experience everyday life. We loved walking the dogs through the village and along the coast. We highly recommend this housesit and would happily return anytime. Thank you so much, Anja and Eranga. We miss you already.
