About this assignment
We live on our converted farm next to the village of Saint Michel-De-Chavaignes, which is situated in rural France, but only approximately 18 miles from the city of Le Mans.
We have eight adult cats that came with the farm, 5 hens and one goose, which require to be cared for. The cats have the use of the cottage via a cat door and the use of the various out building, but are not allowed in the bedrooms.
The cats don’t require a lot of care and are very friendly, fed twice a day (morning/night), and there are always cat biscuits in their rooms/cottage to munch on throughout the day, plus water.
The hens and goose are free range, but come back to the main pen at night and are usually fed every 4-5 days.
The two bedroom farm cottage is set in 23 acres of farmland with approximately 3 acres of grass/gardens surrounding the cottage, a greenhouse and two decking areas with awnings for sitting out/eating and also a hot tub.
The greenhouse requires watering daily along with the various window boxes and planters.
There are four new bicycles, 2 with battery available for use, as well as Wi-Fi and TV's. There are shopping facilities in the local village and supermarkets in the towns between 1-6 miles. The farm is situated next door to Chateau Lassay and there are plenty of walks and things to do in/around the area, so it can be as quiet or as busy as you wish it to be.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
Someone who likes cats, hens and gardens, who is trustworthy and flexible. Someone who does not mind a quiet countryside location and outdoor country life.
What are the good features of the property and location
Quiet lovely location in the countryside, villages, shops and supermarkets around 1 1/2 miles away, plenty of walks around and excellent cycling as well, bikes supplied pedal andelectric if required.
Tv and internet supplied.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
A car, walking or cycling will be required to get around.
There may be the option for the sitter to stay on a few days after we get back, as we have the accomodation and arrive the day before we leave if possible.
Can I bring my own pets?

Colin and Fiona were responsive and most welcoming when I offered to house sit whilst they returned to the UK for 3 weeks. The converted farm-house is in a rural setting next to a Chateau, about half an hour’s drive to Le Mans centre, though everything one needs can be found in the more local towns and villages. The nine cats were a pleasure to look after and quite independent, each with their own character and playful habits. They have a huge area to explore and roam with the surrounding barns and outbuildings all their own territory, as well as the grounds of the neighbouring Chateau. The hens were similarly self-contained and have a fenced area to themselves daytime and an enclosure under an adjoining barn for the night. Asides mowing the lawns a couple of times with the ride on mower, there wasn’t much to be done in the garden as it was autumnal in October with leaves falling and things beginning to die down. I explored the surrounding countryside by mountain bike on several occasions and had a most enjoyable stay. Merci Colin et Fiona !
