About this assignment

My wife and I are looking for a reliable individual or couple to stay in our mountain home and take care of our sweet rescue dog Juno while we are away on a brief vacation.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Your primary responsibility is taking care of Juno, feeding and walking her mostly. Also tend to minor housekeeping so our home is in the same condition when we return.

What are the good features of the property and location

Our cozy timber frame home is set in a fabulous location at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort near Golden, British Columbia. Four national parks (Banff, Yoho, Glacier, and Kootenay) are within a one-hour drive. Autumn will be changing to winter during this house-sitting assignment. We usually get our first significant snowfall of the season by November 1. However it’s been more mild than usual so autumn may linger longer. If there’s enough snow you can go cross-country skiing at the nearby Nordic Centre. If not, there are plenty of hiking and mountain biking trails nearby. Kicking Horse Mountain Resort is a small community with few full-time residents so quiet solitude is guaranteed during this time of year.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Some people would consider our location remote, but the town of Golden is only 13km away. There's no public transportation available so a car is required to go anywhere else. We don’t want Juno left home alone for more than four or five hours at a time, but neighbors can check on her if you want to be gone longer. No smokers please.
