About this assignment
Attention to detail, keeping house safe, responsible, care for house as though their own, adaptable to different culture, adventurous, clean, and dependable.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
tending to plants and garden, upkeep of house, keeping humidity down inside house with AC, directing gardeners 1X every 2 weeks, sweeping , spraying plants and garden.....general house maintenance. This one bedroom unit has its own private entrance and is attached to the main house which may have shorter term guests staying there...so you would be responsible to have it clean and tidy for them when they arrive. There may be up to 3 guest visits during this sit.
What are the good features of the property and location
This is in a beautiful neighborhood with mountain views. It is a 45 minute walk to grocery store in town (or a $4 cab ride), or take a bus. Beautiful weather, greenery in woods around house and High Speed fiber optic internet. The bedroom will have 2 twin beds that can be put together to make a king,
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
Spanish is spoken here, although not a necessity. We are a small community in the mountains, about an hour from the Pacific beach, and 35 minutes to the airport. We have a little flexibility on the start and end dates.
Can I bring my own pets?

Wonderful Introduction to Costa Rica
My extended house sit for Bob and Kathy at their own slice of Central American paradise seemed to fly by. Their home is modern, spacious and extremely comfortable. It made the perfect spot to base my first – hopefully not last – visit to Costa Rica. Located high on a hillside at the edge of the friendly Central Valley town of Atenas, it allowed easy access to beaches and rivers to the west, and mountain towns and national parks to the north. Low mountain ranges, a distant volcano occasionally puffing away, and evening lights twinkling in the not too distant suburbs of San Jose became my every-day views. Along with great exercise, morning walks in their quiet residential neighborhood included sweeping views of distant mountains and lush valleys. Bob and Kathy provided a handy list of suggested places/attractions to visit, with driving times noted. The town of Atenas itself was well worth several visits. It is packed with a colorful and lively public square, loads of interesting shops and a great variety of restaurants. Roaming was only slightly hampered by my kindergarten-level Spanish. But that really didn’t seem to matter, as Costa Ricans were routinely cheerful and accommodating. From cab drivers to the checkers at the grocery, to others just passing on the street, almost everyone seemed happy to accommodate my language struggles. Once a smiling man in line behind me, helped to sort out the proper amount of Colones – local currency – needed to cover my bill. Bob was always quickly available for questions or to confer on some project via What’s App. (Costa Rica seems to run on What’s App.) While there were no pets to care for, there certainly was abundant, new-to-me wildlife, even at or near the property. Twice I noticed small flocks of toucans flying past, before perching in the hillside mini forest just above the house. I would love to return should the opportunity arise.
