About this assignment
Some of you will know me from when I had my lovely Wheaten Terrier family, Presto, Karish and Lola. Sadly they have all now crossed the rainbow bridge but hopefully they are together again.
After 7 months of having an empty home, I decided to try fostering for a while and, in keeping with my love of terriers, am hom Vino, a young Andalucian Bodegeuro. He has stolen my heart so I have decided to adopt him.
He is adjusting very well to his new environment, still follows you around a bit but house trained and sociable. Energetic as he is still quite young (2.5 years) and curious as most terriers should be!
He can't be let off the lead yet although he does need quite a bit of exercise so hope you like walking at least twice a day! Training is ongoing but he is responding well.
You will obviously look after my home and garden as if it were your own.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
To walk Vino twice a day. Feed once a day at breakfast time. Poo picking up and washing down garden area. Watering plants and garden, inside and out.
What are the good features of the property and location
I am just a short walk from the beach of San Pedro with its bars and restaurants along the paseo. My urbanization has two pools, the adult one very large which you can walk into. The nearest cafes and Carrefour supermarket is less than 5 mins walk in the opposite direction and if you continue walking, you end up in the town of San Pedro. This is typically very Spanish with many individual shops, bars and restaurants. On a Thursday, there is a very good local market in the town. Also walking distance on the paseo from Puerto Banus.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
Not much to consider other than whether you want to walk and feed a happy doggy in a great location! You don't need a car as most things are within a decent walking distance.
The bathroom for your sole use has an over-bath shower.
Getting from Malaga airport is easy enough, bus to Marbella and then an uber or taxi from there. Or you may be lucky enough to arrive in time to get the bus direct from the airport to San Pedro! Some of my sitters have arrived a couple of days early and had fun in Malaga before heading to me, just a thought!

This was the fifth time that we stayed with Sue to look after Lola. We love Lola and I love Sue. Sue be become our best friend in Spain. Plus + Minus
Sue, although we never meet her was friendly and helpful. The location was great, near the beach and many restaurants. The dog was really well behaved and very easy to look after. The downside is the apartment is small, very cluttered and well worn. We did have to leave towards the end of the sit due to us both being so uncomfortable in the old bed, not sleeping well and waking up with aches and pains. There was a friend locally who took over while Sue returned. If these don’t matter too you then accept a sit for the plus’s.

Peaceful home, great location, and the sweetest companion
I had such a wonderful time housesitting in San Pedro. Sue is a very kind and caring host who made me feel welcome right away, with everything clearly explained and beautifully organized. Her home is lovely, comfortable, and perfectly located with a peaceful garden and pool to enjoy. Lola is the sweetest companion, gentle, affectionate, and such a good listener on walks. Twice as Nice
How fortunate for me to experience 2 different dates for this wonderful housesitting assignment! Sue and her sweet gal Lola were such a delight. Sue made me feel so welcomed and left me with clear instructions and her housesitting folder. Lola loves her beach and promenade walks and is very friendly with all the other pups. Enjoying the beach with Lola
In february I had a lovely time with Lola the wheaten terrier who is alone now. After having been part of a family of three all her life she was a bit sad at the beginning but adjusted and enjoyed our daily long beach walks in the morning and late afternoon. Easy on the lead she always stayed at my side and was friendly with all dogs. She's twelve now so a senior girl but still has a good appetite and digestion. San Pedro is a great place to live. The beach is a bit rough that is a blessing as it has kept away mass tourism but is perfect for strolling and lively enough with a paseo (boulevard) and cafés with a green area and appartments behind instead of hotels. Sue's appartment is located in an attractive complex and has a garden/courtyard where the sun comes in later in the afternoon and is nice for sitting, with lots of birdsong. Adjacent is a guest room with very nice private bathroom. Sue is a well-traveled lady, organised and responding quickly to anything that may occur. She picked me up from the bus stand where several La Linea busses from Malaga (airport) stop and twice in the morning go straight to the airport. Therefore an easy to reach destination. Although nights were cold I fully enjoyed the Andalusian winter sun and think Lola was happy as well. That made a pleasant house sitting experience.

A perfect week with fantastic company!
I am incredibly grateful to Sue for allowing me to experience my first house sitting in her wonderful home and city, with two such loving, funny, and sweet dogs. San Pedro offered the perfect relaxation; I was just minutes away from the sea, the promenade, and the shops. I could swim in the garden pool and greet Presto and Lola every morning 🤩. I teared up when it was time to leave because the dogs stole my heart with their patience, cautious approach, and unique personalities. Sue welcomed me with such kindness and provided all the necessary information and support, ensuring I felt calm and safe during my stay. I can't wait to go back if i get a chance again, because once you've visited San Pedro, you’ll never forget it. Since returning home, I keep looking at my photos over and over again. 🥹It was an honor to spend time with Lola and Presto!

A wonderful location with 2 lovely dogs!
Sue’s dogs are lovely, well behaved, easy to feed, very easy to handel, and extremely good on the lead. Sue left clear instructions and kept in touch. The location is fantastic! There are 2 large pools in her complex and its just a few minutes walk to the beach with lots of cafe’s and restaurants. Also the local shops, Carrefour supermarket & bus stop also are just a short walk away.

Fun pups by the beach
Presto and Lola are very well-behaved dogs. Their personalities are different and fun. It was a pleasure and a privilege to care for them for a few days while Sue was away. Sue is very nice. Her place is just a short walk from the beach, and there are several restaurants within walking distance (though some may be closed during the off-season).

Fantastic time in a great location
I loved my time taking care of Pretzo & Lola while Sue was away. I felt very welcome in Sue's home and she was very organized with instructions regarding feeding, walking etc. Great location close to the beach and loved our morning and evening walks. The dogs were a delight to look after and would highly recommend anyone to apply for this house / pet sit ????????

Lovely Wheatens
We have enjoyed looking after Presto and Lola on 2 different occasions. The dogs have very different personalities and are so chilled. They are affectionate and love going for walks and runs at the beach and in the local area. Both are really easy to look after and good at taking meds. Sue was trusting, and great with communicating. She provided the most comprehensive instruction and information book. Sue was available and responded quickly to questions. We would be happy to look after Sue's home and Lola and Presto again and would recommend her as a host.

Perfect location with great company
I took care for Lola and Presto for 3 weeks in June. They are both well mannered and so easy to take care of them. They had been perfect company for my sunrise and sunset walks. Sue’s place is only 5 minutes walk from the beach and also has access to a comunal pool with sea water which was great. Sue was very quick to respond to any of my message. I was a bit concern one of the days as there was a thunderstorm and Lola got very anxious, but Sue ensured me all is well and provided some great tips on how to calm Lola’s down. I had great experience overall.

It was our first time as Housesitter of dogs and the house. it turned out to be pleasant, easy, natural, because we do the same thing every day in our own home and with our own dog. we felt comfortable in Sue's apartment, and her dogs were friendly and calm right away to our family. our little daughter was especially looked after by the dog Lola. We were delighted with the location of the house. the beautiful long promenade by the seafront delighted us with its views every day, and access to the swimming pool in front of the building was the greatest fun for the whole family while swimming. it was a wonderful family trip to Spain and we are grateful to Sue for giving us a chance to start our Housesitting adventure. thank you

Wonderful Spot in Costa de Sol Spain
What a wonderful place to be in Costa Del Sol Spain not far from Gibraltar! Sue is extremely organized and her instructions for us were very complete. Sue’s Wheatons are very well-trained and loving. Sue was very welcoming. Our walks on the nearby beach with her dogs were relaxing and fun. The dogs are well-trained and easy to walk and care for. Our trip to Gibraltar was an experience of a lifetime. Being away for a number of hours to take the hour-long drive and tour was not an issue. If we are ever needed again we would love to go back.

Love visiting Sue, Presto & Lola
My friend and I spent a wonderful week in Sue's apartment looking after Presto and Lola, two of the most adorable dogs with their own little personalities and so good on the lead???? Fantastic three
Wow what can we say Sue absolutely lovely lady and adores her dogs . The flat has lovely garden it’s so near the beach . Klarris , Presto (mark kept calling Pesto corrected him so often ) & Lola these dogs are just amazing they never bark love cuddles , eat well & love walking . You cannot help falling in love with them . We had two weeks at Sue flat enjoyed every minute it went far too quick . Lovely village , nice market great swimming pool Area . Stay in San Pedro de Alcantara
We have spent some magnificent days in San Pedro walking along the sea with a family of Weatren Terriers in a beautiful setting and with all services close by. Everything has been very easy thanks to the confidence shown and the dossier that Sue has left us with all the explanations. So we hope to return because we have felt very comfortable in a beautiful garden apartment next to Marbella.

Three friendly Terriers in a lovely home
We spent two weeks looking after Sue's three Wheaten Terriers in her lovely home. After an effusive greeting from the dogs, Karish, Presto and Lola they soon settled down and proved to be friendly, gentle and easy to manage. They loved going for a walk and were happy to spend the rest of the time sleeping. Sue is a generous host and we enjoyed dinner together which she had prepared for us, all we had to do was sit back and relax! Before arriving Sue had given us clear instructions and expectations and all the useful and important information was available in a "house sitters" folder. Although we arrived by car, we could have managed without. The beachfront paseo is a few minutes away from the apartment and the ritz and glamour of Puerto Banus is a comfortable walk along the boardwalk. The village of San Pedro de Alcantara grew on us as we explored it's many streets and passages also best done on foot. We also looking forward to going back for more!!!
