About this assignment
A house sitter that loves and cares for cats and is willing to care for them as i would do. Keeping house clean and free of visitors!
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
feeding our cats twice a day and taking care of them affectionately sensitively and kindly. Keeping villa clean and tidy balconies free of bird nest paraphernalia.
What are the good features of the property and location
Brand newly built villa, beautiful sea views, close to local shops and beaches. A car to use to sight see and enjoy Western Greece. Making the most of a beautiful part of the world. High speed Starlink and Vodafone WiFi routers. Own bedroom and en-suite facility shared kitchen and external areas.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
Love cats we have 15. keeping the villa clean and tidy at all times. Dealing with tradespeople and maintaining high standards of cleanliness.being in a rural location able to drive and converse with locals.

The Great Greek Adventure! š šāā¬
Wow what an adventure itās been. From learning to ride a moped scooter, climbing through a waterfall to steering the boat while we sailed through the Ambracian Gulf! Itās been such a fun time with John and Fiona, weāve been on some epic adventures, they feel like family when I was at their villa pet sitting their wonderful cats! All the cats are so adorable with each one having their own personality and quirks. It is so easy and enjoyable to look after the cats, I had plenty of free time to do my own things here, I loved walking down to the coast to watch the sunset or for my workouts and taking a dip in the sea. The house is modern, kept so tidy and clean and is in a beautiful peaceful spot with stunning views, it felt very calm and refreshing spending my time there. If I get the time and opportunity Iād definitely come for another pet sit! The neighbours and people in the village are very friendly here. John and Fiona are so kind and ensure that youāre looked after with everything in place if you need anything. In the local Amfilochia town, the people at the shops and bus station are super friendly and kind, and help you get what you need. Majority of the shops and restaurants speak English so itās easy to get by. Iād highly recommend this pet sitting opportunity to anyone, especially with the private pool being ready soon, you wouldnāt want to leave!

A heartfelt thank you to Fiona and John!
Living in Fiona and John's home made my trip to Greece more surprising than I ever dared to hope for, when I unexpectedly found myself replacing the previous cat sitter. We didn't even meet when I arrived, but they made me feel welcome and they were always ready to help even from a distance. Fiona and John's house, full of cat energy, will forever remain in my memory. I fell in love with cats (22) and living with them. The house is located in a quiet location and from all rooms there is a magnificent view of the sea and from there you can admire the wonderfully colored sunsets behind the low mountains. Some days it looks like the landscape has been painted with watercolors, with the sea and the sky merging together. The small village of Sparto with its grocery stores is nearby. You can use the car and it's not a long way to Amfiloghia either. There you can find everything you need such as shops, restaurants, banks, post office, wensday marketplace, etc. Fiona and John's friends in Sparto form a safe network from which you can get help if needed. Definitely a dream destination for a person who loves cats and peace. I will miss the place myself, and I hope to find myself here one winter. š Fiona and John, Warm and big Thank you for all your kindness and the warmth of your home. Special mention and thanks for the incredibly lovely bedroom and the luxurious hotel-level bed where I was able to spend my night's, no one could wish for a better place to rest! šāā¬š¾

Terrific mountain retreat
John is the perfect host. From the moment I landed on Crete, he made me feel welcome. In addition to being extremely thoughtful, generous, and an all-around good human being, heās a fellow traveler and the very soul of Greek hospitality. Before he left on his travels, he made sure I was comfortably situated and well stocked with food, introduced me to the villagers (who were also welcoming throughout my stay), spent a gorgeous day showing me the sights and teaching me how to get around the island (both geographically and culturally), and even provided me with the numbers of a dozen people I could call if I needed anything. I felt very much at home. The cats were charming and engaging and quick to accept me. The house is cozy and comfortableāand a secure refuge during the magnificent winter storms. The grounds are private and neatāwith million-dollar mountain views! All in all, it was a terrific winter refuge, and has inspired me to spend time visiting other parts of Greece. When he got home John generously invited me to stay until my next sit, and we enjoyed a number of evenings drinking wine, practicing our Greek, and playing cards. I feel I made a fast friend, and hope to get to come back and visit soon.

A great experience
Fiona and John were a pleasure to house sit for. John took time to show me around Sitia and the route to the best local beaches and sites. He introduced me to his neighbors in the amazing village of Spiridonas and I now have several new friends. The view from the terrace is vast and beautiful, I spent most of my time there playing with the kitties and enjoying the view of the olive groves and mountains. I have never seen so many stars in the sky! John supplied the house with everything that I could have needed. The house is clean, comfortable and straight forward. I was left with complete and clear instructions and 10 people to contact in case of emergency or other needs. The vehicle is reliable and in great working order. I was happy to have it. Crete is a fantastic place to explore and spending time at the house and in the village was wonderful. Fiona and John left clear, easy instructions and the house was clean, stocked and ready for my arrival. I would be delighted to be invited back it is truly a special place.
