Hoping to find a caring person or couple to look after our dog.
Dougal is a 5 year old cross Belgian Shepherd/Labrador. He has a lovely good nature, loves his walks and cuddles. and is very obliging. Most of the time he's quiet and well mannered although he does have a wee cheeky side!
He needs someone generally responsible who would love to look after him whilst enjoying the outskirts of a small town by the river and beautiful countryside.
Feeding and watering.
Dougal loves to be around people. He knows that there are times when he has to stay at home. We have a small garden which he has free run of when we are home but we don't like to leave him too long.
Dougal does require one good walk daily (but would love two) and as much mental stimulation as you can muster up.
Someone willing and able to maintain the tiny garden which is a mixture of fruit, flowers and vegetables, although this requires very little attention.
We live in a cluster of around 40 houses above the small town of Newburgh, Fife, at the foot of which runs the River Tay. Surrounded by fields and beautiful scenery there are many woodland walks and beautiful coastal villages to explore..
We are a 1 hour drive from Edinburgh, 20 miles from St.Andrews and 10 miles from Perth.
The house is in a very quiet area. We have gas central heating, cook on gas with an electric oven. You would have the use of fully equipped kitchen, sitting room, 1 double bedroom and a bathroom with small bath and shower cabinet. There's a smart tv, good WiFi, back and front small gardens and parking for two cars.
The living space is on the first floor, reached by a flight of stone steps. We do have 2 mountain bikes which you could use but this is a very hilly area. There's a small bus runs once an hour from the house down to the town. And public transport to other areas close by.
No, sorry.

Sweet doggies in a quaint Scottish town
Elaine made us feel right at home in her cozy house. She was great at communication, although we had no problems. We watched Dougal and his visiting friend, Olive, who get on well together and are very well-behaved and easygoing. Dougal is a sweet boy who loves his outings. Walking him in the Scottish hills was just lovely, with breathtaking scenery everywhere. Olive is a senior lady who spent much of the day snoozing. They both enjoyed being petted and brushed. We miss them!

Peace and quiet
Looking after Thomas and Ralf was a pleasure. Thomas would have you believe you forgot to feed him as he nags and Ralf turns up at feeding time to remind you of your duties. Both adorable once they get to know you and the village they live is so quiet and peaceful. If you just want to read or write it is perfect. If you want to explore, thjs is also perfect. The cannon de sil just a 14mins drive is breathtaking, a Dam and a lake that have settled in the bottom of a canyon with spectacular views. A golf course near by, opens at 9am and not very busy. Geoff and Elaine were perfect hosts, i arrived 2 days early and given good and clear instructions especially as Thomas is a diabetic so 2 injections a day but no problem at all. A beautiful house with a neighbour opposite but left alone. A tight driveway so i parked my campervan in the local park along with everyone else who parks under the trees for shade. A bread man every lunchtime, €1 in a bag on the front door and he leaves you a loaf. Supermarkets in nearby sober or montfort de lemos to stock up. We chatted on social media a few times to keep them updated and for your peace of mind. I has been 2 weeks of peace and quiet.

Amazing couple
I sitted for Elaine and Geoff for a week and they were really friendly from the beginning. I travel with my dog and they totally accepted her in their home without problem (thank's :-). Seb is a really good dog and the cats are really friendly, they got along with my dog without any trouble and they spent a lot of time together. Elaine and Geoff were very thoughtful about everything and they left me prepared everything I'm going to need for the week, they make me feel like it was my home. The house is very cosy and you are surrounded by a lot of nature. There is a lot of routes you can walk around and the house is close to Monforte de Lemos a really beautiful village so old that it's roots are far beyond the romans. Thank's for everything and see you soon :-D

A wonderful experience.
It was such a pleasure looking after Geoff and Elaine's house/garden/pets/etc. Clean home, friendly pets, beautiful garden, good location, warm welcoming, and they were very thorough with instructions and recommendations regarding everything. Sober, Monforte de Lemos, Vilascura, and Ourense are beautiful cities and was a lot of fun exploring them via car and bicycle. I highly recommend this place. 5 stars! :)

Lovely, lovely, lovely
I house sat for Geoff and Elaine in June/July 2016 and had a wonderful time. They are really kind and welcoming, with a lovely home and very friendly neighbours. And as for the pets... you will fall in love and never want to leave!!! Sebastian is simply the best dog in the world, very loving and well behaved. Ralph and Thomas, the two cats, are very independent - Ralph will bring you 'treats' (which he thankfully then eats!) and Thomas will appear occasionally demanding some love. All three are an absolute delight to spend time with. The countryside in the area is stunning and well worth exploring (you definitely need a car for this assignment.) I have travelled extensively in Spain and think Galicia may well be my favourite place. So I'm envious of anyone who gets to spend some time in this lovely home.
