About this assignment

Looking for a mature couple or person to caretake our house and two dogs on the beautiful Caribbean island of Vieques, Puerto Rico. We want caretakers who will enjoy the many beaches, the trails and natural features of Vieques and the limited but active tourist industry.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Vieques, known as "Isla Nena", is a short ferry or plane ride from the big island of Puerto Rico. Vieques is mostly a bi-lingual community of 8,000 residents who are supplemented by 300,000 annual tourists. 53% of Vieques is conservation land, most of which is managed by the US Fish and Wildlife Refuge.

What are the good features of the property and location

We have single story, 3 bedroom, 1 bath home one block from the North shore of Vieques. We supply a 4-door Jeep Wrangler, automatic, hard top. Our two Labrador dog brothers sleep on dog beds in our bedroom. They will be 4 years old in September. They are able to stay in our large fenced yard and patio when you are out. They are very friendly and take walks on leashes or run free on the beaches that allow dogs.
We will pay all utilities. We have a washer, dryer and dish washer. We also have wi-fi and subscribe to Netflix, Amazon Prime and Sling.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

We will expect mature adult caretakers to care for the dogs and keep house in good condition. A few potted plants near the house will need watering but flowering shrubs and fruit trees need no care.
We will be visiting family in Massachusetts during your caretaking time and reachable by phone or email to answer questions.
We hope you could arrive on August 3 and we would leave on the 4th. We would arrive back on August 24 and take you to the airport on September 25th. We have some flexibility on the dates.
